STARTING TO BUILD THE FLOOR IN THE HOMESTEAD HOUSE

BUILDING THE FLOOR

To begin, I rechecked all of my reference points to make sure that everything was still level and square.

And after some checks, all appeared to be great! So I began at one corner installing my flooring support boards. They will make a square around the outside of the rooms and will be what the floor joists are attached to.

*Do not worry about the boards not being lined up in the middle as that is part of the design....there will be a couple steps there inside the house.

I MADE A SQUARE😁

With the boards being cut and nailed to the logs, I had made a square perimeter around what will be the rooms of the house.

NEXT STEPS.....

The next steps in the construction will be to frame in the center floor support boards and create their support columns using stones and mortar. After that is complete I will be able to install all the floor joists.

Then upon completion of that I will build the ceiling and roof. This will allow the floor and walls to have a level of protection from the elements as I build them.(It will also allow me to work almost regardless of how bad the weather is.)

COOLER WEATHER SOON...

I am looking forward to the cooler weather of fall as it will allow for an easier work day at the homestead. As of now the days are still above 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius) and it makes for hot working conditions. And our humidity is always above 85-90 percent it seems.

Doing pretty good. Life is just been throwing me a few tough things to deal with. I should be back more regularly now though.
