MOVING FORWARD(AND UP) OUT AT THE HOMESTEAD
THE LOGS MUST GO UP THE HILL
##This has been one of the bigger struggles I faced. The hill is not even that big, but it is very muddy, kind of slippery and pretty steep. All of these things combined together made for a very big challenge. Very simply, the logs were supposed to go from here...
Across our little creek, along a short path...and then up our little hill....
The problem was that it stays to damp in the woods so the soil never dries out. My black Ford(got her running by the way) could get the logs to this point but she couldn't getting off traction in the mud, it would only spend her tires instead of pulling the log.
After dealing with this for a short while, I knew something had to change as I was getting nowhere. So I came up with a solution. I would need a winch so i went and got one. And shortly after the logs were forced up the hill.
I have managed to get three logs(of 27) to the homesite. So while I have a few to go, it feels good to be making progress.
