MEETING THE MASTERMIND

@Koh @evans-adventures and I took off early in the morning with our cargo loaded. We were headed to the great state of Alabama to meet up with a wonderful man, @makinstuff.

**@koh holding our most precious cargo.😁

Upon arrival we all enjoyed a bit of camaraderie and fellowship. @makinstuff showed us around the homestead and gave us a good understanding of his plans for the future.(And he has a lot of great ones!!)

A LITTLE RELAXING

After the tour we set back and just enjoyed one another's company. We told stories and talked about our plans for the future. We also met the rowdiest set of pups I'd seen in a while.

KIMG3330.JPG
*They were as cute as were awnry. 😁

KIMG3324.JPG
**@Evans-adventures decided to dig a hole instaed of deal with our "old guy stories."😂

A NIGHT OF REST BEFORE THE WORK STARTS

After a few hours of chewing the cud, we all decided to get rested up for the day ahead. We were going to be working on building a gate using trees @makinstuff had fell.

LET THE GATE BUILDING BEGIN

A cantilever gate is the style we we're building. It works by balancing the gate against a load on the backside of the log fence. This makes for a very easy to operate gate that will last a long time.

*A tripod being assembled to help with the heavy lifting.

@Koh got to use a grinder for the first time and did an amazing job cutting up some rebar pieces that we used in the gate hinge.

**@koh grinding
*The gate is done!!!
* @Evans-adventures doing his part digging.

AFTER THE GATE WAS UP

We took a well deserved break and @makingstuff prepared us an insanely delicious chicken supper.

THE NEXT DAY, THE NEXT JOB

The shower was the next big project to tackle. The basics of the shower had been built, but @makinstuff was still in need of a roof to go over it...so it began.

KIMG3444.JPG
*It reminded me of a Three Stooges skit, but we got it done.😂😁😂

KIMG3450.JPG

  • First was a good layer of wood to give some strength.

KIMG3452.JPG
*Add a few screws to hold everything together.

KIMG3457.JPG

*Then a waterproof layer of tarp to protect the wood, and tie it in place.

The shower was good to go. It is a temporary shower but one that now has a roof which is a really great deal!!! And we are so glad we were able to help such a great man with some work that is tough to do by yourself.

THAT'S ALL FOLKS

We had to go after doing a couple more things around the homestead for @makinstuff and we all said our farewells. We departed and began the 9 hour trip back North across the Mason/Dixon line. It was an amazing and fun trip. @makinstuff was a wonderful host and a great man. We truly appreciate his hospitality and love. Thank you @makinstuff for all you did to make us feel at home while we were so far away. At times it was easy to forget we weren't home.

Thanks to everyone for all yous do And for the continued love and support. As also we send our best, strongest most loving vibrations out to all of you.

ALL PICTURES ARE MINE OR @KOH'S TAKEN WITH MY KYOCERA PHONE...OR WITH HIS SAMSUNG PHONE.

Absolutely!🤗 Stick with me and you'll definitely be seeing more of it, as this is our grand plan. we are currently working on our homestead where we will be self-sufficient. we have a natural spring for a source of water in our solar was put up a couple of weeks ago. And I just broke ground fun are temporary house. So we are well on our way to being able to take care of ourselves. once we are completely self-sufficient, it will enable us to be able to help a whole lot more people. We have plans for a massive community garden to help the underprivileged in our area. I would also like to teach classes at the homestead for the youngins concerning how to be self-sufficient, survive, and just live a healthier life in general as well. Thank you so much for your support and for stopping in.

It all sounds great and very commendable. I travel each summer helping out homesteaders that are not economically sustainable build and even donate building materials I acquire for free myself. I scavenge(scrap/recycle) for a living.

As a matter of fact, I'll be putting out an article shortly to find 1-3 ppl that need structures built, because I've acquired enough metal siding and trim to build around 3 8'x15' buildings. It won't matter if they want a dwelling outdoor latrine or just a roof over their wood piles.

Natural Medicine also supports homesteading and permaculture articles.😀

Hello @johndoer123 , this is @notconvinced on behalf of Natural Medicine.

This is the type of voluntary cooperation I'd like to see more often. Your article has been included in our Operation Positive Vibes curation and we hope you'll use the tags #hivevibes and #volunteering in the future on similar content. Swarm-on brother.😀

It is just wonderful that you get to be visited by our fellow hivians @johndoer123 :D
plus the fact that you worked with them with those projects really means that you had established a lasting friendship with koh and makinsuff, it is nice :)
