THE RAMJET

WHAT IT IS

The ramjet is a piece of old technology that allows a person to pump water uphill without electricity or an external power source. It uses a couple of specialized valves, head pressure, and a built-in air reservoir to pressurize water and push it uphill.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM

Below I will do my best to describe how my system works. It starts at a spring that originates at the side of a hill about 200 ft(60 Meters) away from the cabin.

The pipe going to the right is the one that feeds the ramjet after the filtration, the one on the left is just a dump valve that I open when I am not getting water. It prevents filtering water that I'm not going to use, and this using up my filters.

THE FILTERS

*And here it is, filled with activated charcoal, with the sediment filter before it and installed.

AFTER THE FILTERS...

The water runs down and is deposited into our 55 gallon(208 Liter) reservoir. Here it is stored until we need it.

THE RAMJET IN PLACE(ish)

So, from the ramjet the water was to run to the house to fill our primary gravity feed water reservoir...

However, I got the math wrong on the needed water supply line...and it would pump water uphill...but 7 feet less then I needed it to go.😂🤣😂

REWORKING THE SYSTEM

...Yeah, I bought an electric water pump and that is what has been installed...it works flawlessly.😁😁

But I learned a lot from this project, and felt it a great educational value to me.
