CLIMBING CREEK CLIFFS

Check out the video below to she our new girl in action!

That's a video of her as she(and I) work to remove rock and gravel from the creek to be moved in the process of building our driveway. We made four trips yesterday and moved enough gravel to cover the downramp and a spot big enough to park.

This is a big help because it allows for easier entry and exiting from the homestead and will help prevent ruts being dug into the ground.

That's the type of ruts I want to prevent. If I make ruts it will be more work fixing them later. And with our wet springs and winter, it would end up being a lot of fixing. So, this falls under the "ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" rule.

GETTING STARTED

Before we could start we had to clear some brush and small trees to gain access to the creek. So, out came the chainsaw and down came the brush. When it was all said and done we had a nice trail to the creek.

Followed shortly by a truck in the creek!

When it was all said and down we had a nice little section completed and I now can save myself the worry of fixing things later. I'll need a LOT more rock and gravel to completely finish the drive but this is a great start!

WATER HEATER MUST GO

While we were putting the new horse to work I figured why not go ahead and remove the junk water heater I found in the creek. So we tied a pull rope up to it and removed that trash from the creek as well.

Below is an unrelated picture of my son with a new friend he has, Archie.
