The Critical 7 Rules To Understand People

avatar

I think that the following article should be read by just about everyone, because the article teaches about human behavior.

https://www.scotthyoung.com/blog/2007/08/28/the-critical-7-rules-to-understand-people/

About 22 years ago a teacher gave a similar piece of advice when he said 'don't spend your time worrying about what other people think of you because they probably don't think of you'.

I've tried to explain some of those concepts myself, but this guy does a much better job of it!

Thanks for sharing. I'd have loved to see you expand on it more with your own thoughts.

I can not say that I read the entire article, but I feel that I understood what the article was saying. The reoccurring them that stood out to me was 'consider the level of selfishness that most people operate with' In this example we will assume that on avrage the avrage person is concerned with only there own intrest for 80% of the time (the remaining 20% of brain time is divided into two groups) 18% of the time people are concerned with how there 'buddies are going to make them look' - -so you might be thinking about how it reflects on you, by hanging out with me.- - and 2% of the time you are placing yourself in my shoes.

However in my oppinion, I feel like alot of people like to think of themselves as 'pilars of truth' but the simple truth is that when left unchecked the human heart is dreadfully wicked. This can be seen from 'lord actions' quote - -power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely- - So there are two types of leaders in the world #1 people that are tyrants, and #2 people that are tyrants in the making.

When the U.S Goverment was set up the founding fathhers knew that people could not be trusted for long. So a system of goverment was set up with the intent that all of the power was not going to be given to one person (its like playing the game 'keep away' if you do not hold the ball for long you can not become a ball hog.

Of course the answer is to deny ourselves and submit to a non-selfish authority . This means death to our desires, and following a guidebook (so I am not supposed to live my life on my own terms, and the world will be a little more tolerable for everyone else (by the way what is being discussed is know as having Faith in CHRIST)

But moving back to the origional comment, If say that most people have 100 people in there thoughts, and you atten a party that lasts 1 hour, there is a good chance that most people in that room are not concerned if you spill grape juice on your shirt. However the most that people are going to be focousing on you is maby for a couple of seconds.

Rather than treating the above article like it is the only information that we need to learn, let the article serve as a foundation that we can build on.

I also included a link of a guy talking about the looking glass self, because I think that people should know that there self image is often skewed, most people fool themselves into thinking that they understand what other people think of them. This is the fix...I can not live my life based upon how I feel that I am doing. I choose to live my life paying attention to what GOD says about me in the Bible (I know a guy that does not apeare to be concerned about anything, he says that he does not think that there is a god.)

Many people incorectly assume that a persons life can be seperated from what they believe. There are thee questions that a young man needs to ask to build his life, and the questions must be asked in order: The questions are called '3-M' (who is my Master, what is my mission, who is my mate) watch this your mate will help you complete your mission, and your mission will highlight who you Master is.

What a fantastic reply. A veritable stand alone post!

"there are two types of leaders in the world #1 people that are tyrants, and #2 people that are tyrants in the making"

This observation sounds like something I'd hear from @mattclarke. Even benevolent leaders end up turning into tyrants eventually. Maybe that's why most revered leaders who did good are the ones who died young. If they'd lived long enough they'd have succumbed to human nature eventually.

I don't believe it's possible to rule well.
