It's POWER-UP Day!
I forget why I missed it last month but DAMN RIGHT I am powering up my liquid $Hive today. Usually I am casually late but this time I am too excited to wait til it is officially December here. Good thing is it already December in @brittandjosie land so I can pretend I am enjoying The Netherlands and a Jupiler or something ;)
What is Hive Power Up Day?
In @traciyork's words, Hive Power Up Day has been taking place on the first day of every month since @streetstyle came up with the idea on that other blockchain over a year and a half ago.
What does it require?
In @streetstyle's words ...
On the first day of the month...
• ...we ask that everyone who can do so, power up any amount of HIVE they are holding on the first of the month.
• ... we ask accounts that are currently powering down to please pause the powerdown during the hours of the first of the month.
• ... we ask that those who are trading and/or selling Hive, not to do so during the hours of the first of the month (and if possible, cancel any type of sell order on any exchanges for the same hours).

I don't do it for the prizes because I think there are others much more deserving, and it satisfies both my hoarding and speculating impulses.
BOOM!
Not that big a boom if you consider it is only a 5% jump in my locked-in stake. Still, I remember powering up 18 hard-earned STEEM (back in the day) to cross the 500 mark and become a minnow on the blockchain.
Slow and steady wins the race and I am a case study in organically mining cryptocurrency, having not yet purchased and $Hive off chain. Manual curation and sporadic schedule! Ah I got nothin.
