Easter 2020 - Another FFF Entry -

A sound, strange but familiar met my ears. My brain registered it as “rain”, but it was more accurately the sound of water pouring onto the ground, from the drainage area of a neighbour’s shed, with a dull but repeated thud.

I paused the episode of The Magnus Archives podcast I was listening to, rolled out of bed, and looked outside the window, before taking this photo:

lxmm3s.jpgRain from the drain was my main bane.

The Magnus Archivesis a horror anthology series podcast, something I normally wouldn’t other with, but as I listened I discovered that the stories are linked and then it rapidly becomes Lovecraftian with dark entities seeking to dominate the world by manipulating human avatars and feeding off people’s fears. It’s well worth a listen.

The rain became heavier, but I refused to let it touch my already dour mood, as I knew it wouldn’t last very long. Adelaide weather is like that, mostly.

I decided to start writing about Easter 2020 for last week’s Food Fight Friday competition, but I missed the deadline. These things can take hours to type, edit, choose the photos and sort out hashtags, especially with my thumbs on the iPad Pro and that’s on a good day.

I chose to wait until today, where I could give this my maximum attention.

Today, much like Easter morning, there isn’t a single cloud in the sky; Adelaide weather is like that, mostly. I also managed to find a Bluetooth keyboard for the iPad so I have fallen in love again with the physical act of typing. Yay!

The current pandemic threatened to have Easter Bunny down for the count, but thankfully the virus hadn’t jumped to rabbits, yet.

rsswih.jpgEaster Bunny, down but not out...

Undeterred by recent global events, I set about making Easter the best that I could. I managed to get several chocolate rabbits, usually hollow inside, a large quantity of small caramel filled chocolate eggs and some larger eggs, and a packet of Cadbury’s Favourites.

My personal favourite being this R2-D2 chocolate “egg”.

The R2-D2 is hollow on the inside, and the white parts are chocolate as well!
Expensive, but worth it for any Star Wars fan. Hollow inside, but the chocolate was mostly 3mm thick except where, at the base it was thicker. It was a tragedy to have to smash it and put it into a bowl, but there is a lot of chocolate here.

My next favourite one was this peppermint infused chocolate egg. I loved this random pattern on the outside, which is why it’s the thumbnail of this post, and every bite was crispy peppermint!

The centre once again is hollow, but the chocolate was 4mm thick.

Before Easter, I had managed to lose enough weight that I weighed as much as I did in High School. Yay!

Since Easter, I have managed to put on 5kgs. I need turn things around again soon.

Oh, this was just between you and me...
For the love of all that’s holy, please don’t tell my dietitian! Chuckle.

In my self imposed isolation, I’d grown a beard. It’s helped me by allowing me to touch my face without actually touching my actual face. I’ve trimmed it since.

Saturday is Anzac Day and I will need to pay my respects.

Until next time, see you in the kitchens!

No, I haven’t been as active on here of late. A friend of mine, overseas admittedly, got the virus. She was working on the frontlines at the NHS working, with infected patients. So, that’s been my priority.

How are you coping with it all?

I hope you've been able to help your overseas friend.

All good here, couldn't be better if I tried.

Thank you. Right now the best I can do is provide moral support and hope for the best.
Glad things are going well at your end.
