The News

Hive had some coverage on Cryptonews this week, although they do say it is a 'press release'. I gather a couple of members of the community wrote it. It sums up the platform quite well and could perhaps be used as a basis for the Hive Wikipedia page that is still in draft form. That needs a lot more details with links to good articles as references. Hive is hard to search for, but having a page there may give the platform more prominence.

It may seem retro, but there is a Hive channel on the Libera IRC server. If you like it 'old school', then join us there.

I keep an eye on general web stats for Hive sites. Hive.blog is the biggest on the blogging side according to Hypestat, but 29000th on the web is not great.

What are you here for?

Why are you on Hive? I get that money is the big attraction for many, but most are not making much. It is also a social platform and we know what an attraction that can be as billions use other platforms for no rewards. The fun can be a combination of the content available and the interaction with others. Hive is lacking big name content creators, but we have lots to entertain and we get to reward it. You should encourage the things you want to see more of as news will spread in the creative communities.

I do not think it has to be a matter of fun OR profit. It can be some combination of the two. You also cannot directly relate time spent creating content to the profits gained as there may be other benefits such as useful feedback and good discussions. Depending on where you live the rewards may pay for a beer or feed your family. I spend a lot of time on Hive, but I enjoy being part of the community. I just keep on powering up so I can give better rewards, but I will cash some out when the time is right.

Some people will play the various games for what profit they can make, but for me they have to be fun. I tend to plough any winnings back into buying cards or other items. The game creators have to find the right balance so that it is not purely about money. If they get greedy then players will go elsewhere.

The followings

More musicians this week.

  • @soundlegion is a long-time prolific creator of quality music that has been shared with us here. She must have hundreds of songs on the blockchain now.
  • @musicuniversity is very involved with the Rising Star game and has a new song available as an NFT there tomorrow.
  • I saw @davidbolu34 having fun playing some Stevie Wonder on bass.
  • On the art front @paolobeneforti has been posting some cool pictures lately.

The end

I will skip the doghouse segment this week, but there is always abuse to be dealt with. Join the Hive DR Discord if you want to help out. We have a Hive hardfork due at the end of this month that may alter the voting dymanics a little. If it encourages more real curation then it could be beneficial. I vote for what I like rather than trying to make maximum rewards anyway.

Have a great weekend and Hive five!

Not that I am in line with the "producing" or "writing" about these, but I am very likely the guy that goes the extra mile for sharing efforts. Plus, all-the-time tester!

"I vote for what I like rather than trying to make maximum rewards anyway."

Sounds interesting!

My focus is on sharing valuable and interesting contents; so as to reach out and connect with great minds. Like @steevc🙌 and many others in advance. Get their useful feedbacks, ideas, inputs and good discussion..

I'm privileged to be curated and mentioned by @steevc. .

The acquired rewards on my contents are like the icing on the cake for me, so as to power up and be able to curate others with time. I can cash out if need be though. Lols!!

Thank you for sharing.
Respect 🙌

I'm not against people cashing out when they need to. Hive should be empowering the world, but we also need those who are prepared to invest. Keep having fun.

I like the idea of being here for both having a good time and the money. As if you can do both is fulifils so much all at once. Now im not saying i will give up my job if i get enough hive. But it nice to know my efforts have monetization value and i enjoy building it up with the games i play and the post i put on.

It why hive is and always will be my favourite project.

It seems a lot of crypto projects are mainly about money, but Hive can be so much more.

Have fun!

The fun involved and the monetary rewards makes Hive interesting. I must say Hive is what that holds my life from being very frustrating at this moment.

I came in definitely for the money involved but what keeps me here is the love of the community and the relationships I have built and still yet to build..

We each do what we can afford. I see you just started, so find people who share your interests and engage with them. That's the best way to build a supportive following.

Power up all your HIVE to give your vote value.

Why are you on Hive? I get that money is the big attraction for many, but most are not making much.

If everyone would support others, instead of focusing on their own posts, this platform would thrive, and everyone would earn good amounts. But the money earning opportunity attracts mainly the selfish and greedy people. Most of the people focus on posting, instead of commenting and supporting others.

A fair few big accounts support people. I can see that a lot never self-vote, so they are spreading the rewards around. I've got where I am by being part of the community. I've been really active and gone to real life events. You have to connect with people and if they appreciate what you do then they can help you out. You've been around here a while, so you know how it works. I support the stuff I'm into.

You've been around here a while, so you know how it works.

I just/only wish. I am trying to connect with others (I successfully reached the top 10 in the engagement league), but most of my posts are still earning only cents, not dollars, and I rarely receive comments.

By the way, thank you for the pizza. I also give you some !PIZZA.

I don't really pursue the highest curation rewards and vote for what I like but I haven't really had time so I kind of rely on my own feed. I like the @leomarkettalk because they are willing to link good or interesting posts for me to look at too.

I think for the most part, I like the fact that I can grow over time and there is both a passive and active aspect to Hive and 2nd layer tokens. As I am not in trouble financially, I don't mind leaving on the system to generate returns. Also I am having fun playing games like Splinterlands and Rising Star.

It has to be fun for me, especially in the early days where I often made nothing on a post. I've done well, but it's through lots of work and connecting with people.

Have fun.
