Follow Friday - See you at Hivefest

The day has finally come and @hivefest kicks off in about eight hours. You need the AltspaceVR app on your PC or VR system. It works on a regular screen too. I have had a play with it and it works well. You can walk up to people and talk with them whilst hearing other chats going on around you. Maybe get yourself an actual beer as virtual beer just does not have the same kick.

I hope to hear some announcements of cool new stuff, but @peakd already launched some new features, including chat. This has been requested for years, so it is great to finally have it.

Chat

My #FollowFriday suggestions include some people who are back on Hive after some time away. People will have other things going on in their lives, so this will happen. We should always make them feel welcome.

  • @joechiappetta is a cartoonist from California whose work can be quite animated.
  • @jeffandhisguitar is a Brit living in Cambodia with his guitars. He just started some lessons for beginners.
  • @tlundy47 has been releasing somefresh music with some of it being Christmas tunes. I think we all need a break from the tired on 'classics' at this time of year.
  • @dannewton is a photographer in northern England. He is also doing some running, so send him some encouragement.
  • @elias15g is producing some cool comic art with open source drawing apps.

Be sure to leave people comments. Those can matter as much as votes, especially if you do not have much HP. Make it social.

I claim no expertise at taking selfies. In the app I don't think you get a preview anyway. I expect people will take lots of pictures of the event.

Unsociable sloth. I get it, and am similar. Besides, it's all so bloody weird. I'll pop in, if I can get the tech to work, and see what's up...I can always make like a ghost if it weirds me out too much.

I am hoping I will be back in time to log on at least for a little bit. It sounds like it starts around noon and I have a meeting at 2:00 today. Even if I can just pop in for a bit, I will be happy.

That’s great to hear that some people who have been away are coming back! I’ve had my activities on slow summer, but I’m trying to get back in and turn up the heat!
