Follow Friday - Moonshots

There has been various talk of 'moonshots' recently with the UK government (who do not impress me) launching one a while back to increase COVID testing. Now we have one with Bitcoin taking off. It has more than doubled the high it reached a couple of years back and shows little sign of stopping.

Meanwhile HIVE is stuck at 12c and is dropping down the rankings. I find it hard to believe there are that many coins that are considered more valuable. How many have thousands of people using them every day? I am interested in any opinions on what is holding Hive back from going viral. We have an engaged community and active development. Anyone can earn HIVE by being here, so why are they not doing so? I know it might not be a lot for many, but for some any extra income is welcome.

I still maintain that it may just need a few people to take a chance on Hive. If they have a few thousand followers on some other platform they could migrate them here and potentially make more. On most platforms you will struggle to earn anything unless you have a massive following. Those niche creatives may be our best hope. If a few do well then news will spread. I keep waiting, but it has just not happened.

That does not mean I am giving up by any means. I have a lot of fun here and have made lots of friends. The income is nice, but it is all getting powered up, apart from what I might spend on the games.

I will be doing another update on the state of UK Hivians next week. Please let me know if there is anyone I have missed, even if they are voting without posting. Those in other countries can use my script to make their own list.

And so to my follow suggestions for this #FollowFriday:

  • The Rising Star game has a new feature coming where you will be able to build instruments by collecting parts. @risingstargame is pushing my buttons with the music theme and this obviously appeals to a guitarist like me.
  • Talking of guitars, new Hiver @tfranzini has a fine Telecaster. You can find him in the guitar community
  • Meanwhile @gtown is hacking away at a kit guitar to make something special.
  • @atheistrepublic are back on Hive after some time away. We need to show them they are valued here. Hive can be a home to all beliefs, including those who do not feel the need for one.
  • I heard @nathanmars had been unwell (COVID?), but he seems to be back up to speed now. He is a witness and has been pushing Hive on Twitter. We need that marketing.

Another great list of people that you are showcasing here. I am kind of excited about he improvements to RisingStar as well now that I understand it a little better. There have been some good posts lately on Leo talking about Hive and the price. I think we are going to see some good things before long here.

Well let me know anything you see that could bring actual progress. There's lots of talk, but we need action. Any price improvement needs to be based on real developments, not speculation. Otherwise it will drop again. We've seen it too many times.

Who do we need to sleep with to get noticed? Hive has not had any mainstream media coverage. Steem at least got in the Guardian, Wired and Rolling Stone, for what good it did. We have to expand beyond our current bubble. Need people with contacts.

Maybe Trump now he's been banned from Facebook?

I may not share his political views (that's something of an understatement to say the least) but if him and his supporters want to buy ALL the hive and give me a chance to sell some @ $10, I could live with Hive taking a lurch to the right.

A few people have mentioned him. He could bring in a lot of new users, but it could drastically change the nature of Hive. It can't stay as our little 'club' if we want HIVE to be worth something, so we have to see how it can work on a larger scale. It's hard to know what strange thing could happen next in the world. Just try to get through it intact :)

I'm really new to Hive so I still can't contribute to the debate on what is holding it back but people like you show me that this is a great community with lots of potential so I'm more than willing to do my share to help Hive grow! Count me in!
