Final (real*) post on Steem - why I'm leaving for HIVE

avatar

First off thanks Steem for a great almost three years! It's become a major part of my life, real social-media.

Until @ned sold us out to @justinsunsteemit.

One of the reasons I quit teaching two years ago was because I'd seen my mediocre peers pass me into senior management positions. Having to work alongside mediocre people in positions of authority hurt. But at least with that, they were competent enough to do their jobs and TBH I wasn't interested in senior management roles anyway.

However, here on Steem we've basically seen one lucky rick guy sell us out to another lucky rich guy - and the evidence suggests these two really don't have any business sense, or enough technical knowledge to manage a blockchain. So I'm now on a chain run by an incompetent lucky guy, that ain't something I want to be part of!

Still, thanks to the work of a few dozen techies, (and thank you to @blocktrades et al!), we can all now jump ship to the HIVE.

I'll be jumping!

I no longer want to support the Steem blockchain because:

Evidence for the points below is in this post

  1. The steem blockchain is no longer decentralised - it's now under the control of one individual with a very large stake - namely Justin Sun (@justinsunsteemit) who controls the steem blockchain through a number of sock-puppet witnesses.
  2. These witnesses are possibly being run off one server, which is most insecure!
  3. Justin Sun is now censoring posts on the one front end he controls, steemit.com. I am against censorship.
  4. Justin Sun has a track record of saying he is doing one thing while the evidence suggests he is doing another - for example, the recent steemitblog post stated he was transferring control to 'community witnesses' but some of these witnesses are new accounts, suggesting they are just more sock puppets. I can't 'work' with someone who has no trust record.
  5. He has shown himself to be unstable, irrational and not capable of making good business decisions in relation to steem. That post where he asked whether we'd like to fuck hiim, for example, I can't 'work' with someone like that, they are too unpredictable.
  6. He blocked me on twitter! MAN!

Two other leaving posts that resonant with me are:

So it's over to HIVE!

It's a relief to be leaving this place after the last month - I remember seeing those sock puppet witnesses in the T20 while checking in on Steem quickly while at work and thinking WTF - and that awful first 5 hour Discord session which lasted from 17.00 to 22.00.

Ever since then it's been stressful here, being occupied, with the rally and the stand-off.

I'm happy to be moving over to HIVE, where things are going to be the same as old but different, hopefully more different than just having a reddish tinge....

See you on the other side, this will be last (proper) post on the Steem blockchain.

I may be kickstarting an 'I'm leaving Steem shitpost' competitton, so look out for that later today!

I'm pretty sure HIVE transition will start off strong, I just hope it will continue. I just think Justin is doing everything he can to purge anyone who is not a yes man from steemit and you know what? Thats up to him, he should bare the cost of his decisions. His going to turn steemit into a desolate dapp just like all his other dapps on Tron
