Welcome back to my blog! This time I am going to talk a little bit about what it is like to live in Venezuela from my personal experience.

Bienvenidos nuevamente a mi blog! En esta oportunidad voy a hablar un poco acerca de cómo es vivir en Venezuela desde mi experiencia personal.

Living in Venezuela is synonymous of adaptation

Living in Venezuela is not an easy task. The political and economic situation that we have been living for years in the country is no secret to the world. I can not say that my experience here has been rosy, hyperinflation took me and my family from being middle class people to live from day to day and eat precariously. Thank God the situation improved for me and for many Venezuelans and I think the key to that is adaptability. We had to adapt to new times, free ourselves from the prevailing system or at least try to do so. Jobs were no longer enough to pay even the basic basket, the market became dollarized and led many of us to become entrepreneurs and learn more about finances and how to produce money through networks. That was my case, although I have had occasional jobs what has helped me the most is to look for creative alternatives to make money using my talents and gifts. That's how I started giving Drawing and Painting classes, teaching all the knowledge I learned and the years of experience of being an artist, while creating content and selling my drawings through social networks and other art selling platforms for artists.

I think the internet has been a blessing for many Venezuelans as well as creating content on Hive. Last year my friend and fellow artist @medussart told me about this blockchain platform and how it could serve as a means to publicize my artwork, sell it and generate income. And I have to confess that since I joined Hive I fell in love with the blog and its community, the warm way in which I was received and all the help that @rutablockchain gave me to join the blog and create quality content.

The work done by their team is very noble, because as Venezuelans they are aware of the difficult situation here and help many Venezuelans by training them in this Blockchain technology to generate income from home by providing quality content from each unique and special perspective.

Despite all this situation Venezuela is a beautiful country with great natural beauty, warm and hospitable people. It is undoubtedly a country with a great tourist attraction and I hope that someday it will return to be the country we knew or even much better. It is also a country I would dare to say with a great spirituality, it is known as the new Jerusalem. Venezuela as my spiritual teacher would say is a "Land of Grace". It is my home, the place where I was born and for that reason I also honor and bless it.

Vivir en Venezuela es sinónimo de adaptación

Vivir en Venezuela no es tarea fácil. La situación política y económica que vivimos desde hace años en el país no es ningún secreto para el mundo. No puedo decir que mi experiencia aquí ha sido color de rosas, la hiperinflación nos llevó a mi y a mi familia de ser personas de clase media a vivir del día a día y comer precariamente. Gracias a Dios la situación mejoró para mí y para muchos venezolanos y creo que la clave de eso es la adaptabilidad. Tuvimos que adaptarnos a nuevos tiempos, liberarnos del sistema imperante o al menos tratar de hacerlo. Ya los empleos no daban lo suficiente para pagar siquiera la cesta básica, el mercado se dolarizo y nos llevó a muchos a emprender y aprender más de finanzas y de cómo producir dinero a través de las redes. Ese fue mi caso, aunque he tenido empleos ocasionales lo que más me ha ayudado es buscar alternativas creativas para hacer dinero usando mis talentos y dones. Es así como comencé dando clases de Dibujo y Pintura, enseñando todos los conocimientos aprendidos y los años de experiencia de ser una artista, a la vez que creaba contenido y vendía mis dibujos por las redes sociales y otras plataformas de venta de arte para artistas.

Creo que el internet ha sido una bendición para muchos venezolanos asi como tambien crear contenido en Hive. El año pasado mí amiga y colega artista @medussart me habló de esta plataforma en blockchain y como podría servir como medio para dar a conocer mi trabajo artistico, venderlo y generar ingresos. Y tengo que confesar que desde que ingresé a Hive quedé enamorada del blog y su comunidad, la manera cálida en que fui recibida y toda la ayuda que me aportó @rutablockchain para ingresar al blog y crear contenido de calidad.

La labor que hace su equipo es muy noble, ya que como venezolanos están conscientes de la difícil situación que se vive aquí y ayudan a muchos venezolanos formandolos en esta tecnología Blockchain para poder generar ingresos desde casa aportando contenido de calidad desde cada óptica única y especial.

A pesar de toda esta situación Venezuela es un hermoso país con grandes bellezas naturales, gente cálida y hospitalaria. Sin duda alguna es un país con un gran atractivo turístico y tengo esperanza que algún día volverá a ser el país que conocíamos o inclusive mucho mejor. Es un país también me atrevería a decir con una gran espiritualidad, se le conoce como la nueva Jerusalén. Venezuela como diría mi maestra espiritual es una "Tierra de Gracia". Es mi hogar, el lugar donde nací y por eso también lo honro y lo bendigo.

What is the cost of living like in your country or region?

Now without further ado, let's start with the question proposed for the OCD Community Boost Contest #6: Highlighting Home Edders: How is the cost of living in your country or region?

This is a bit of a difficult question to answer here since our currency is totally devalued and prices are currently managed in dollars. So I will express the amount in this North American currency. Besides I have to confess that I feel a bit of discomfort when I see those amounts since most Venezuelans do not have access to those monthly earnings and let alone a person earning minimum wage which is not enough to cover the minimum basic needs and it is around $1.5.

According to el Correo del Caroní the cost of the basic basket for February of this year was approximately $267.5, that is without taking into account the needs of transportation, housing or medical services among others.

Ciudad Guayana, the city where I live is one of the most expensive cities in the country in terms of food, transportation and housing. If we add for example the rent of a simple two room apartment it would be around $350. You can get cheaper pieces as annexes for $60, which are like studio apartments. Regarding transportation, it is complicated because we have problems of gasoline supply and there are long queues waiting for this fuel, at the same time that fares are paid in foreign currency, that is to say in $. Cash for public transportation is also scarce. Banks usually give little cash and people have to resort to other means to get cash for transportation. I, for example, sell detailed cigarettes or sell products from the government box in the market in exchange for a little cash to be able to get around. There are people who buy and sell cash at 150% so as you can see it is not an easy task to live in Venezuela and even less so in a pandemic situation, however, Venezuelans are resilient and have a great capacity to adapt so they have managed to find ways to live in this situation. Currently many have opted for the purchase of a bicycle to be able to move around, which saves gasoline while it is an ecological vehicle and also serves to keep fit.

I would say then that to live in Venezuela with all necessities covered you would need around $500. As I said before not everyone earns that salary, I wish the reality was different. Most jobs pay more than the minimum wage, between 40$ and 60$ you could get jobs with that. So many of us choose to have several sources of income that help us to support ourselves and it is the best way to be able to live at this time in Venezuela.

Ahora sí sin más preámbulos comenzamos con la pregunta propuesta para el reto de OCD Community Boost Contest #6: Highlighting Home Edders:¿Cual es el costo de vida en su país o región?

Esta es una pregunta un poco difícil de contestar aquí ya que nuestra moneda está totalmente devaluada y los precios actualmente se manejan en dólares. Así que expresare la cantidad en esta moneda norteamericana. Aparte que tengo que confesar que siento un poco de malestar al ver esos montos ya que la mayoría de los venezolanos no tenemos acceso a esas ganancias mensuales y ni hablar de una persona que gana sueldo mínimo que no alcanza para cubrir las mínimas necesidades básicas y está alrededor de 1,5$.

Según El Correo del Caroní el costo de la cesta básica para febrero de este año estaba aproximadamente en 267,5 $, eso sin contar con las necesidades de transporte, vivienda o servicios médicos entre otros.

Ciudad Guayana, la ciudad donde vivo es una de las más costosas del país en cuanto a comida, transporte y vivienda. Si sumamos por ejemplo el alquiler de un apto sencillo de dos habitaciones sería alrededor de 350$. Se pueden conseguir piezas más baratas como anexos en 60$ que son como apto tipo estudios. En cuanto al tema del transporte es complicado ya que tenemos problemas de abastecimiento de gasolina y se hacen largas colas por la espera de este combustible, a su vez que se pagan tarifas en divisas, es decir en $. El efectivo para tomar transporte público también es escaso. En los bancos suelen dar poco efectivo y la gente debe recurrir a otros medios para conseguir efectivo para transporte. Yo por ejemplo vendo cigarrillos detallados o vendo productos de la caja del gobierno en el mercado a cambio de un poco de efectivo para poder movilizarme. Hay personas que compran y venden efectivo a 150% asi que como ven no es tarea fácil vivir en Venezuela y menos en situación de Pandemia sin embargo, el venezolano es resilente y con gran capacidad de adaptación por lo que ha logrado buscar formas de vivir en esta situación. Actualmente muchos han optado por la compra de una bicicleta para poder movilizarse, lo cual les economiza la gasolina a la vez que es un vehículo ecológico y que sirve también para mantenerse en forma.

Yo diría entonces que para vivir en Venezuela con todas las necesidades cubiertas se necesitaría alrededor de los 500$. Como comenté anteriormente no todo el mundo gana ese sueldo, ojalá la realidad fuera otra. La mayoría de los trabajos paga más que el sueldo mínimo, entre 40$ y 60$ se podrían conseguir empleos con ese sueldo. Así que muchos optamos por tener varias fuentes de ingreso que nos ayudan a mantenernos y es la mejor manera de poder vivir en este momento en Venezuela.
