Creando un Reloj/ Creating a watch.⏰
Hello friends of this wonderful community, first time I write in your community, I just found it, I am an educator, I love teaching and because of what we are living with the pandemic, I only take care of the education of my little son Robert, this time he was very anxious to learn the time, and we decided to create a clock.
Reading time is something we do every day and at different times of our day. It is definitely a basic skill that we all need to learn from a young age, as it helps us to better manage our time and thus, be more organized people.
However, learning to tell time can be a bit complicated for children, a great way to teach children is through play or making the learning experience fun for them. Children by nature are curious and from an early age they may be drawn to that curious object called a clock.
As part of the learning process I included the use of color palettes, where one color is the hour and the other color is the minutes, this game was very fun for him, since he loves to count and this way he understood perfectly the minutes, which was the most difficult thing for him.
As indicated on the page: https://www.smartick.es/blog/matematicas/medidas-y-datos/horas/
In order to begin teaching time to a child, they must first have some basic concepts about numbers. For example, children should know how to count from 1 to 60. In this way, we can explain to them that the day has 24 hours, that an hour has 60 minutes, that a half hour is 30 minutes, a quarter of an hour is 15 minutes and that a minute has 60 seconds.
Another basic thing they should know is to count by fives (5, 10, 15, 20...) so that they can read the minutes correctly on a clock.
In addition to these basic notions about numbers, we should explain to children the moments or periods into which the day is divided: morning, noon, afternoon and evening. One way to help them understand the differences between each is to relate certain activities they perform: in the morning we get up, at noon we have a snack, during the afternoon we spend time with the family and at night we go to sleep, to name a few examples.
And so we finished our creation I hope you liked it as much as we did, now my little Robert practices daily to learn perfect time.
