I Made a Number Display to Help My Mathias Learn [EN] // Fabriqué una Pantalla de Números para Ayudar a Mi Mathias en su Aprendizaje [ES]

in Home Edders2 months ago
I'm lousy at crafts, the truth is that I think you have to be born for that, and I did not get that configuration in my operating system hahaha, however, in order to help my Mathias in his learning of numbers I have made this screen of numbers, to which I have also added some elements according to the amount that says the number so that Mathias can associate the amount with the written number. This idea was suggested to me by a friend who is a psychopedagogue and to whom I have resorted to help me with Mathias' activities, since for example learning numbers was becoming difficult for him, or at least that's what I thought.

Last week he went to school a couple of days to be evaluated by the teacher, and it happens that my son is a troll hahaha, he counts and recognizes the numbers perfectly up to 10, however, with me he did not want to do it and is that he likes to play with me, and it is perfectly normal behavior, indicates me the teacher and the psychopedagogue, the truth is that after they told me that I have relaxed a little because I was very worried because every day we did exercises to learn numbers and I did not see results. Now, this screen or number chart will help me to reinforce even more this learning since the little ones need repetition to learn in a better way.

This screen took me more time than I estimated it would take me, because to tell the truth I spent about 30 minutes a day to finish it, so I finished it in a total time of 2 hours, then I show you what I used to make it.

5 sheets Gum Eva or foamy letter size
1 Lamina Eva rubber or foamy double letter size
1 Roll String or wick
55 Pieces Bamboo clothespins
1 Scissors
Cold paints, Graphite pencil, ballpoint pen and brushes
1 small jar Cold silicon

To begin with the help of a brush and cold paints, I painted the bamboo tongs, also serve those that are wooden, or if we get colored plastic tongs can be used and we save this step.

Continue by preparing a template with numbers, which you would then transfer to the foami to cut out and shape the numbers.

After cutting out all the numbers, we attach them to the screen that we have made with a sheet of foamy cut in half and joined lengthwise, so that it looks like the first image.

Once we have fixed the numbers with the help of cold silicone, we place on the opposite side the string or wick, where we will then place the clips, this we also fix with cold silicone, and to finish, we cut strips of 2 centimeters wide foamy, to make a kind of frame and give a larger size to our screen, as well as cover the attachment points of the string.

Once we have fixed all the elements with the help of cold silicone and we are sure that nothing will come off, we can add the clips and hang them where it is most suitable for the little ones to see it every day. Once My Mathias has learned these numbers to perfection, I think I will give this to my neighborhood school, so that it will continue to be useful for other children. Sometimes preschoolers recognize numbers faster when they are associated with the number of elements they represent, which is why teaching them with the old example of apples and pears never gets old.

5 Laminas Goma Eva o foami tamaño carta
1 Lamina Goma Eva o foami tamaño doble carta
1 Rollo Cordel o pabilo
55 Unidades Pinzas de bambú para ropa
1 Tijeras

For someone that says she's lousy at crafts, you did an awesome job! I love the creativity behind this idea, and well executed :) you shouldn't be so hard on yourself :)

My mother says that I did it well because I did it with love, I think it is so, because to tell the truth I am very bad at handicrafts, but I think I did it very well for my clumsy hands! Thanks for your comment.

Even if it didn't look great, a child is happy with such simple things, I remember my daughter being in awe for drawings I'd rather throw in the bin haha.. It's very creative what you made and you know what, the internet is filled with ideas to help you create things..

That's true, my son got so excited about this, that at one point I had to ask him to be quiet because he was literally jumping with emotion, first because I had done it and second because it was for him.

I think your crafts are great.

This strategy is amazing and super simple to do in our homes, a fun and colorful way to learn numbers, I am also very bad at math, but I think that if I had had this kind of strategies since my childhood the situation would be totally different. Thanks for sharing.

To tell the truth I hated mathematics, and when I was a child I was very bad at it, until I decided to study engineering hahaha, I do not remember having something like that to learn numbers, and the idea is that children do things with pleasure and love so they can learn better.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

This is a good way to introduce numbers in children's education, since they tend to learn them more easily through relationships with objects, giving them order and counting the amount of them. Your material is a good strategy.

That's exactly what I'm looking for by doing this, most kids learn faster when they associate things, and associating quantities with numbers I think is a great idea.

A fun strategy without a doubt I really like the coloring and the way the children can vary the colors and mix them, it reminded me that as a child I loved to play with my abacus and then I discovered that it was a way in which I had learned to count. I think these kinds of strategies are not only eye-catching, but they also awaken creativity and imagination in children. Very good job

Exactly that is another thing I like about this number screen, in fact it just occurred to me reading you, that it can be transformed into a kind of abacus, placing an extra frame and instead of string, place wire that makes it more stable so that my son can play with it without fear of disarming it.

I like to think that you don't have to be born to craft, but more born to like to craft. I certainly wasn't born talented in that area (my eldest daughter and husband are really good at it, but not that interested in creativity), however, I'm persistent and keep practicing because I love crafting things.

Your Mathias makes me smile, but he sounds like quite the handful for you. You are one amazing mom, likely with more patience than you realise. 💚

Mathias is my greatest teacher after my parents, since he was born he has taught me to practice patience, which I admit I was not at all good at, even to eat he takes his time, he talks, goes around and around, at first I was angry, and then I understood that he is like that for many other things, and that as he grows up discipline will make him improve that aspect, but meanwhile you have to let him be a happy child. He has taught me to discover things about me that I didn't even know existed, for example this facet of making crafts, inventing masks with the protectors of the electronic equipment, cars with little boxes and things like that for him to play with, because like every child he prefers that kind of things than the toys I buy him.

My eldest daughter brought some lessons to me as well, now I think about it. We're a quiet family, but she never stopped making noise from the day after she was born. 😆

There has already been too much ENGAGE today.

That doesn't look like bad at crafts to me XP I on the other hand am actually bad at crafts and thus doing something like this never even crossed my radar XD

Associating amounts with numbers even helps adults x_x I don't read or process numbers very well but am pretty good when I can see amounts (even huge ones XD).

Cool of you to donate the thing to the school once you're done with it :D
