¡Venezuela libre!

Free Venezuela!

For thousands of years my country has been subjected to different types of slavery, we were victims of Spanish slavery, where the rights of every human being were violated, it was a cruel and bloody time. But a historical event was born.

On April 19, 1810, the people of Venezuela made the irrevocable decision to be independent and, in Caracas, took the first step to achieve independence and stop being a Spanish colony.

That Holy Thursday of 1810, the people of Caracas attended their religious customs and gathered in the Plaza Mayor (today Plaza Bolivar) to mark the beginning of the struggle for national independence.

From that square, and towards the Caracas City Hall (today Casa Amarilla, seat of the Chancellery), the people shouted a resounding "No" under the command of Captain General Juan Vicente Emparan, representative of the Spanish crown.

At that moment the first republic was born, and the process of independence began, which the people needed so much. A large diplomatic delegation headed by Bolivar, Lopez Mendez and Andres Bello marched to England in search of the military Francisco de Miranda, who was to lead the first republic.

Then began the great rebellion that started the freedom of Venezuela, which was a colony of the King of Spain.
Thus continued the war of independence that lasted until 1821 with the great battle in the field of Carabobo.

Thanks to this heroic action of our liberators, today we are no longer slaves or a colony of Spain.
History united since then a whole great nation that at that time was called the great Colombia was composed of: Venezuela, Cundinamarca and Quito, with a government established in Bogota, the same was integrated by the countries that today form: Panama, Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador.

As a teacher and instructor of my country I recognize as a great discovery that great event, although now I see with pain that we are victims of neglect, injustice, inequality, I think we still do not fully enjoy the freedom that our heroes left us.

The homeland is the heart of any inhabitant of the country where he is, to defend it and defend our rights is worthy of a heroic spirit.

Long live the people who do not give up, who continue standing, who fight for their ideals, who defend and support what is theirs, who do not stop before anything or anyone, who do not give up their rights, long live the warrior, enterprising people, who resist, who are ingenious and above all, long live Venezuela and its people.

"Long live Venezuela and its people. We continue to fight for a better Venezuela, each one of us in our own way.

Long live Venezuela free of slaves, thanks to God and our liberators, long live April 19, 1810.

Blessings my warriors, happy beginning of the week.

This sounds very similar to what happened in the US with the British. It seems, as we look back on history, that we are in a continual cycle of fighting for our freedoms, only to slowly go back to some form of slavery again.
