Introducing my pets - Kafú [ENG/ESP]

[ENG] At that time we did not know this breed in my house, for a while we believed that it was a Husky, a breed very close to the Samoyed and the Malamute, the three breeds of Nordic working dogs, used to pull sleds. But shortly after, on his first visit to the vet, this confusion was cleared up. So I started educating myself about race; I learned that they are closely related to wild wolves, in fact, somewhere on the internet I read that it is the breed of dog whose DNA is closest to the wild wolf. Another thing is that being working dogs, they need to do a lot, a lot of exercise. Also that they love to share with their humans because in their origins, their owners kept them inside their houses to avoid low temperatures. That they are very sociable with other dogs, due to the style of teamwork that they performed. And they are so independent that if humans help us meet their needs, they will do it on their own.

Based on the information collected about the breed, I set out to meet Kafu's needs to make him feel as comfortable as possible, this consisted mainly of walking at least 2 times a day, covering distances of approximately 7 km on each walk. During these walks Kafu took advantage of interacting with dogs of all kinds; shy, aggressive, hyperactive, playful, etc. And so he learned to socialize with other dogs in a friendly way, regardless of the other dog's mood.

[ESP] En ese momento no conocíamos esta raza en mi casa, por un tiempo creímos que era un Husky, una raza muy cercana al Samoyedo y al Malamute, las tres, razas de perros nórdicos de trabajo, utilizados para tirar de trineos. Pero poco tiempo después, en su primera visita al veterinario, se aclaró esta confusión. Así que empecé a educarme sobre la raza; aprendí que, están estrechamente relacionados con los lobos salvajes, de hecho, en algún lugar de internet llegué a leer que es la raza de perros cuyo ADN se aproxima más al lobo salvaje. Otra cosa, es que al ser perros de trabajo, necesitan hacer mucho, muuuucho ejercicio. También que les encanta compartir con sus humanos porque en sus orígenes, sus dueños los mantenían dentro de sus casas para evitar las bajas temperaturas. Que son muy sociables con otros perros, por el estilo de trabajo en equipo que desempeñaba. Y que son tan independientes que si el humano nos los ayudan a cubrir sus necesidades, ellos lo harán por cuenta propia.

Con base en la información recolectada sobre la raza, me dispuse a cubrir las necesidades de Kafú para hacerlo sentir lo más a gusto posible, esto consistió principalmente en pasear al menos 2 veces al día, recorriendo distancias de aproximadamente 7 km en cada paseo. Durante estos paseos Kafú aprovechaba de interactuar con perros de todo tipo; tímidos, agresivos, hiperactivos, juguetones, etc. Y así aprendió a socializar con otros perros de manera amigable, sin importar el estado de ánimo de la otra parte.

[ENG] Kafu grew up between long walks, visiting other dogs (like Raya, in the photo above, another Alaskan Malamute) and always surrounded by people. As time passed, due to its striking beauty and the constant walks we took through San Antonio de los Altos, the city where I live, Kafú became a bit popular, many people stopped us on the street to take a drink. photo, make a comment about it or make affection briefly. It even got to the point where unknown people called him by name!

[ESP] Kafú fue creciendo entre paseos largos, visitas a otros perros (como Raya, en la foto de arriba, otra Malamute de Alaska) y siempre rodeado de personas. A medida que el tiempo pasaba, debido a su llamativa belleza y a los constantes paseos que dábamos por San Antonio de los Altos, la ciudad en la que vivo, Kafú se fue haciendo un poco popular, muchas personas nos detenían en la calle para tomarle una foto, hacer algún comentario sobre él o hacerle cariño brevemente. Incluso llegó el punto en el que personas desconocidas lo llamaban por su nombre!

[ENG] Having Kafu in my life has led me to learn that a person with a good heart will always be respectful of animals. That animals do not know hatred, nor resentment, and no matter what, walking your dog is the best free therapy you can get!

Today Kafu is close to 11 years of age, and although his age is showing, he still has the spirit of a puppy.
