Doggo has got a belly ache and is on meds

Poor doggo of mine! It is so difficult to determine on animals if their behaviour is weird for a longer period of time or because if they maybe have just eaten something wrong.

It started around Christmas when I initially thought the dog had had too much leftover human food parts. He stopped liking his normal food which normally is gobbeled down in just a fraction of a second. So I stopped giving him left overs and kept it with his normal dry food.

Then there were some days where his stool started to become strange...

The stool started to get thinner and sometimes he would be racing towards the door to get outside to have a poo. But this was just a random day every time, so I thought he had just eaten something wrong.

I mean...the dog shreds sticks and eats everything he finds in the woods. I can certainly imagine that that would do something to his bowels catching something bad here and there. But he would have some days where he ran outside so often or crapped inside that I also slept on the couch here and there so I would catch him if he needed to go outside during the night. Not very nice!

So this kept going on and off but there would also be days where the stool would be normal and the eaten would be normal as well. It is so difficult to read animals!

But today while walking in the forest he had very watery crap and it also had blood in there. My nurse brain told be now this was the point not to ignore it anymore so I called the vet where we luckily could drop by super fast.

As it turns out the doggo is having an inflammation in the bowel going on, which can be caused by a lot of things. So he is on pills now and a nice bean diet complementary to his normal food for the fibers in there, to get the stool a bit thicker. I am glad this can be done with something natural and not with pills as well.

I must say I am reassured that there really is something going on at least and that his complaints are coming from something treatable. But it bugs me that I didn't decide to maybe go earlier, even though the complains weren't that clear to see earlier before.

But apart from that, these pills should kick in over the week and he should be fine. Hopefully this will be the last couple of days of couch sleeping and watery crap!

Poor thingy...
