I'm vers (have both depression and anxiety)

— Ethan 😵‍💫 (@incoherentethan) August 4, 2022

My new objective in terms of writing is to be able to write a thousand words on any subject related to depression without having to refer to any web pages for references; nevertheless, the information that I use must be true and believable, and it must be able to be linked to different websites.

I believe that if I collect the information necessary to acquire this capability, I will eventually have a great deal of understanding regarding this subject.

Good day, my name is Dr Ebingo Kigigha, and I'm working toward a career as a psychiatrist. I have a dream that one day I will be able to make a difference in the realm of depression, and by extension, mental health.

In Medic Vibes post, I will be responding to the tweet that was posted by @incoherentethan on Twitter and received a lot of attention.

I will also be responding to trending comments in the post.

A person's thoughts, feelings, and ability to operate normally during the day can all be impacted by depression. The greater the frequency, intensity, and length of your symptoms, the higher the likelihood that you are suffering from depression. There are many different indications and symptoms of depression, some of which we may recognize in ourselves and others.
Note Suicide risk is significantly increased for those who suffer from depression.

When a depressed person worries about a potential risk to their life, these concerns should be taken extremely seriously. It's possible that intervention and assistance could save their lives.

Anxiety

On this Medic Vibes, we've talked a lot about depression. I'd like to give a little description of anxiety before going on.

There is more to anxiety disorders than just passing apprehension or terror. Sweating and a quick heartbeat are common symptoms, as well as jitteriness, panic, and terror.

Anxiety does not go away for those with an anxiety disorder. Constant anxiousness is like being pursued by a predator who cannot be seen.

Those who suffer from anxiety disorders always feel as though they are in danger. Because when it all comes down to it, humans respond to our environment the same way we did when we were hunters and gatherers. Anxiety used to be an important response in those times but does not have a major role in humans today.

Very rarely will you encounter a lion on the streets or some other ominous threat but people who have an anxiety disorder can not simply turn that switch that says so off.

Relationship between Depression and Anxiety

According to Sally R. Connolly therapist and correspondent at Hartgrove Behavioral Health System,

When you get anxious, you tend to have this pervasive thinking about some worry or some problem. You feel bad about it. Then you feel like you’ve failed. You move to depression.

People who are depressed may say they have a feeling that something bad is going to happen. It is similar to what we described in our posts last week.

These two disorders – anxiety and depression – have a complicated relationship: Nearly half of those with major depression also suffer from severe and persistent anxiety. People with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are especially prone to developing depression.

A biological predisposition for both of these conditions is often at the root of an individual's battle.

Hive Stories

I read a story about @mobbs, in his post he described his life after dealing with depression and building a good relationship with his girlfriend.

He is a cat hero of some sort...lol. This post about his life can give so much life to simple activities that people take for granted. Gardening, teaching, music, travel. Don't take these little things for granted.

I haven't read more recent posts from @mobbs but I hope his back is ok.

Tips

Depending on what level you are in you battle against depression and anxiety, you can try loosening up like @mobbs take a deep breath. Jordan Peterson, a train clinical psychologist said you should take out time to pet a kitten when you see one.

The statement can help you see life in better light and take opportunities to breath and relax. Anxiety can make you feel like you have to be worried about every single thing in your life at every moment. What people forget is that worrying does not solve problems. Problems are solved with effort.

Questions

  • What really connects depression and anxiety?
  • What are the things that make you anxious?
  • Have you felt your anxiety bring its depression?
  • What has helped you deal with any anxiety you might have been experiencing?

Conclusion

Anxienty is a mental health condition on its own and has a lot of complications depression being one of them. Depression also can lead to anxiety the two conditions are intertwined in a way.

They can be complicated with sleep disturbance and suiciadal ideation and eventual suicide.

Talking about Mobbs, I think he handled the lockdown situation in China quite well. That should get an average person to be depressed.

Strange. In my mind, anxiety is a quite active condition, a fight-or-flight kinda thing, and depression a more passive one, a 'kill me I don't care' kinda thing, so I wouldn't immediately have made the connection between them.
