Renewable Energy: The only hope for Humanity

avatar

Energy is an indispensable aspect of our lives. Basically, we need the energy to function and go about all our daily activities. From riding a bike and walking, to running home appliances and using your personal computer, energy plays a significant role in practically all we do. But have you considered what life would be if the source from which we get energy runs out? Are there sources of energy that will last a lifetime and not run out? The concept behind renewable sources of energy is poised to fundamentally change energy grids.

What Is Renewable Energy?

Renewable energy is the energy gotten from natural resources that are unlimited, self-sustaining, and can be replenished. Renewable energy is inexhaustible. Renewable energy unlike non-renewable energy is readily available with no time limit and can be rejuvenated faster than the rate at which they are consumed when used.

Several factors are facilitating the renewable energy industry to see more adoption. Renewable energy is rapidly outperforming fossil fuels in the power sector of various countries in the world. It is a beneficial innovation set to establish the future of clean energy, which is gradually being realized in some parts of the globe.

It can be observed how novel technologies are exploring the prospects of transforming virtually every industrial sector. Renewable power harnesses the potentials of nature to produce a form of energy that wouldn't run out. For years, individuals and industries have been accustomed to fossil fuels, whose reliability can be compromised without prior notice, and release toxic substances that can adversely affect humans and their environment. Renewable energies are clean fuels. They are called clean because they are gotten from nature and unlike fossil fuels, they emit less toxicity to the environment and the use of renewable energy promises a future of clean energy.

Sources Of Renewable Energy

Sources of renewable energy are not far-fetched. Right before individuals turned to fossil fuels, sunlight was used to kindle campfires, generate warmth, dry out certain foods to keep them preserved, the wind was used to power windmills to function and helped boats to sail the seas without the combustion of any regular fuels beneath. Major sources of renewable energy include:

Solar

Sunlight is unarguably one of nature's most abundant and excessively abundant sources of renewable energy. Our planet gets more than its cumulative supply of energy for a year in just one hour from sunlight. Think of it this way, if we could contain the energy that reaches the surface of the earth in one hour, we would have enough energy to run the planet for a year even if we do not get any more sunlight for one year. Even if the availability of the sun depends on time and weather, it appears to be an unrivaled source of renewable energy widely used across the globe to generate clean power.

Biomass

The days of solely depending on the combustion of fossil fuels to generate energy are gradually going down in history. Wastes from agricultural products and practices, industrial and domestic activities can be converted into energy. By burning these organic products, gas, liquid, and solid fuel is generated in a much cleaner and energy-efficient procedure. Biomass is a renewable source of energy that has a less environmental impact and economic cost when compared to conventional sources of power.

The use of waste products from lumber mills and paper mills to produce steam and electricity in industries to cut down the cost of other fuels and power purchased to operate is now commonplace in countries such as the United States.

Hydro Power

Currently, hydropower is one of the most commercially developed renewable sources of energy. Practically every state depends on hydropower for energy. It has a reputation of uncompromised reliability. With a perfectly constructed dam or barrier, a large reservoir can be used to curb an overflow of water, controlling it to drive a turbine that will generate energy. One benefit of this energy source is its ability to allow power to be stored for future use when there is a heightened increase in demand.

Wind

Wind energy, just like sunlight, is one of nature's most substantial sources of energy. Wind power plays a crucial time in contributing to the electric grid of nations. Wind farms are rapidly becoming commonplace in several parts of the world. Electricity is generated naturally from wind power with the use of turbines to drive generators that channel power into the national grid.

Geothermal Energy

Beneath the surface of the earth lies more than enough heat to generate electricity for use. Geothermal energy is commonly used to heat homes directly. Geothermal energy is widely used in some countries across the globe. However, in some parts of the world such as the UK, geothermal is considered less important. It doesn't change the fact that this energy source is freely available and used in other countries.

What Is The Future Of Renewable Energy?

In a few years, according to a survey done by the International Energy Agency (IEA), inexhaustible energy has been predicted to be responsible for at least 30% of the world's total energy. This will be made possible by two prominent driving forces constantly improved commercially – Solar and Wind energy.

Conclusion

Renewable energy is increasingly important and impossible to ignore. It is an innovative approach to establishing less expensive ways to capture and generate energy that will not run out. Renewable energy is poised to be a revolutionary approach to power generation. Both urban and rural areas are racing to adopt inexhaustible energy that is safe for both them and their environment. Most industrial sectors and companies are drifting away from the constant use of fossil fuels. Asides from being expensive and not completely reliable, conventional fuels are from a finite source and they pollute the environment with a high amount of harmful toxins and substances.

Seemingly, as more individuals and industries race to embrace the use of renewable energy, fossil fuels might be negligibly important over the next few years.

Thank you for the informations! I have heard from people knowledgeable and concerned about natural issues that nuclear energy is still the cleanest and safest, despite what we think of them. So much so that accidents with nuclear power plants can be counted on the fingers, but when they are done well, they do the job with extreme quality and cleanliness.
But I'm really a layman on the subject.

Renewables have a part to play in the future of humanity. I've written all about these topics in the past and I feel you've done a great job. Upvoted and promoted.

Each energy source has its issues. In my opinion, if it's not fossil fuels or hydro, every source of energy is in its infancy. There's a whole heck of a lot society can do to improve everything. I hope we can get to the point where renewables are king.

It is fantastic method of presenting the subject which is sometimes considered to be too much of complex. After reading this post I am definitely convinced that we need the renewable energy in the coming future to rely on the steady supply of power for our needs.

Nice post, I recently watch a documentary about how materials used in making renewable energy may have a destructive effect on the environment.

How ever I feel like it might be a fight back from the petroleum engine automobile industry.

what do you think?
