Its another market Friday and i have had so much excitement this week and im happy to blog about my journeys. The fun, the travels and the waitings are all embedded in this post. Thanks to @dswigle who initiated this beautiful challenge to showcase what people sell and buy world wide. Its a gem and a wonderful idea which wouldnt have been birthed if not for his ingeniuty. Thanks for starting it all. @mcsamm, a faithful #market Friday Blogger initiated me to this beautiful challenge and im ever faithful.

To begin with, my market Friday encompasses all my market runs since i last wrote about my adventures in the stadium market of Sunyani. I am privilege to bring to you another market which is in Berekum, a 40 km drive away from Sunyani the Regional Capital. I happen to have a doctors appointment which led me to this beautiful town .

I took only one selfie and that is it. Moreoever, today's story is much more about market products and not centered on me.

In Ghana, there are several different pepper with different use cases. The picture above showcase three different types well known and used. The first one in a plain rubber package is a dried red pepper. It has been preserved for long storage and it is the goto product for buyers that are concerned about food rotting. It lasts longer than all the other alternatives but it doesnt taste as nice as the fresh ones. The green fresh pepper is called KpaKpo Shito. Named after the first man who cultivated it in Ghana. It is often used to enjoy a delicacy called Kenkey with Fried Fish. The red pepper has normal flavour but one cannot do without it.

Also at this beautiful market can be found okra. A vegetable rich in vitamin K. I realised the chemical constituent of Okra when my father was asked to do away with it for a while when he was on a warfarin medication. Its a nice vegetable that makes food slimy and easy to swallow. Many Ghanaians cannot do without it.

The above picture once again highlights the red pepper. In addition to the red pepper, one can see onion, garden eggs at the far left and tomatoes next to the garden eggs. My grandmother once told me that the secret to cooking a nice meal lies in a balanced addition of onion. Too much of it and you cant take and too little of it too, you wont enjoy it.

My mother is the woman at the right of this picture. She went over to the sellers bay because the seller is an old friend of hers whom she hasnt seen in a long while. We bought some red pepper and okra from her.

As you might have noticed, its impossible to enter a Ghanaian market without seeing yam. There you go. Though we didnt buy any of these, i decided to showcase it to my readers. The market in Berekum isnt that crowded as a result of the Covid 19 action to control spread.

On departure, we met the fruit bay where we bought some mangoes. Fruit is in a bundance now due to the rain. In the dry season, its hard to get any of these.

I hope you enjoyed your journey through my Market Friday. Tune in next week to have a much more adventure. Till next time. Stay blessed.
