Market Friday - Aquarium Adventures

Here's a trip I took to a large fish store for some pet guppies for #marketfriday by @dswigle

This petstore is a few suburbs away from where I live. It features all sorts of freshwater and saltwater fish pets.

Look at the mouth of this barbed pleco.
PSX_20200710_081615.jpg
They are good for sucking algae off the aquariums.
PSX_20200710_081248.jpg
Look at the face of this strange fish, what a sad looking expression.
PSX_20200710_081337.jpg
Here's a shot of the entire fish. What a strange shape kind of like a feather with dots on it. He is pretty large as well.
PSX_20200710_081007.jpg
Look at this piranha. They are like the bulldogs of fish. It also has some nice gold speckling on its sides.
PSX_20200710_081154.jpg
What a tough looking face on this piranha. There were plenty of signs telling you not to stick your fingers in the tank lol.
PSX_20200710_080854.jpg
Here's a fancy younger fish with bold patterns. One of the employees told me that they are only bright like this while they are young. Once they grow larger they turn into a plane gray color without patterns.

Here is a bulbous headed cichlid. These guys come in many varieties of colors and require huge tanks to live in.
PSX_20200710_174958.jpg
Here are a few more cichlids from the large tank. They have snazzy bright red markings.
PSX_20200710_175056.jpg
A couple strange looking characters near the bottom of the tank. I have no idea what the long fellow is.
PSX_20200710_174603.jpg
This is one of my favorite looking fish. I forget their name but they are from Thailand and are a type of cichlid. They look super smart with such a bulging forehead lol.
PSX_20200710_174824.jpg
Now for some colorful discus fish.
PSX_20200710_174657.jpg
The patterns and colors vary widely with discus fish. Breeders are always coming up with new combinations.
PSX_20200710_174743.jpg
Look at the pattern on this guy.
PSX_20200710_174914.jpg
This place has every type of goldfish you can think of. I like these ones the best, nice big wavy fins.
PSX_20200710_175203.jpg
They also have a koi pond inside. They are constantly begging for food.
PSX_20200710_175325.jpg
Here is the koi's little sanctuary. It has a waterfall and plants to make it pretty fancy for the fish.

Finally if you have any problems you can always notify the customer service fish in the middle of the store...

Happy #marketfriday :-)

I used to be an aquarium freak,
have it up though, too much work!
But very beautiful, and the water sound is always soothing!
Anyways looks like an enjoyable trip!

Yeah it's really my fiance that is the aquarium freak. We have three tanks right now, but one of our guppies had a bunch of babies so now we have to get a tank for them. I might need to get a piranha to eat all the guppies j/k.

Naa...
He really kept to himself around
3 years, or more...
Dangerous around smaller fish though!

I have some amano shrimp that really tear into any fish that dies in the tank. They are quite the scavengers.

Yep,
Act just like their cousins..
"Crabs"!
And make a "mess" in the tank..
The lobster did anyways...

I had an aquarium many decades ago. But when we moved here with wood heat, I could not have one. Too much temperature fluctuation. I just have to enjoy other ones....

This was so fabulous! I loved coming here with you! I cannot believe they have piranhas! Seriously? Who wants one of those? Yikes!

Especially when you can have something as beautiful as the discus fish. Oh, my! I loved the patterns on them. Just imagine all the patterns careful breeding could come up with. They have the prettiest fancy goldfish, don't they? I didn't know until I had them that they will gladly interbreed with any type of goldfish. I am sure that is why they have so many different kinds.

The young fish with the bold pattern was so cool. The fact that he turns into a dull adult made me not want him. And who doesn't love the koi? You never showed us what you got! Did you end up buying some guppies? This was such a cool post! Thanks for sharing with #MarketFriday!

I ended up getting tiny endlers guppies but they are way to hard to get good photos of. This is what they look like, maybe I can put my camera on a burst shot to get clear pictures of them in the tank eventually. https://www.aquaticdesign.co.uk/product/endlers-guppy-poecilia-wingei/

Oh, my!! I have had guppies and except for the ones with the huge fan-tails, have never had any so splendidly colored! They are gorgeous! Good luck with them!

Thanks for sending the link! Have a great night!
