Hello Everyone,

And welcome to another edition of #marketfriday courtesy of @dswigle. Market Fridays are about about showing as the markets in your place of residents, any activity you have done which fits the category including window shopping counts. You could always join the community for more information but let me tell you about my marketfriday today.

Today am taking to a place called sofoline, the O is pronounced as in mango the rest should just fall in place. Sofoline is more or less a center or a confluence of the most popular towns in Kumasi, from hence you can also go everywhere and anywhere including other regions. Popular towns surrounding the area include Kwadaso, Suntreso and Abrepo Junction. The funny thing though is that sofoline itself is not a town, well i do not know if you can consider it a town since it is not a residential area but it on a boarder with residential areas. Sofoline is actually a market in the midst of a residential area which does not have its own township.

On this particular day i went to sofoline for the sole purpose of purchasing food items and fruits, for sometime now it is almost the only i go to town to do. With the advent of corona virus pandemic, schools were closed down and so myself and the family had to stay home. To protect ourselves from infection one of us were sent to town to get provisions when need be which basically every week and as i turn out to be the only male among 3 sisters and the youngest and most agile this fell on my lap. So i have been doing this chore for what like a month or two now?

Always is essential that one goes one in their protective apparel, so i always have my spectacles and my nose masks on. With my hand santizer at the side of my bag, you can never be too careful you know. I have also become fond of the tricycle not necessarily because of traffic but is convenient and i do not have to share seats with others, is the perfect social distancing vehicle. But in an attempt to practice social distancing for other vehicles such as the uvan and 207, the three seat is made to take 2 people whereas the 4 seat is made to take 3 people although to me is not much of a 1 or even 2 meters distance but what can we do as passengers is not as if i have my own vehicle. Am sure i will get some in the future though but until not i have to endure and protect myself as best as i can.

Lots of nations seem to be lifting protocols slowly but i do not know if this is right yet. Some are even preparing for politics, ah well, you knows. Ghana is currently awaiting the president's speech this Sunday to know what the future would hold for the Nation, the boarders are still closed, schools are closed together with other social gathering events but businesses have actively resumed though, maybe in his next address some more bans will be lifted or enforced.

Anyway this is what i have for you for marketfriday, Ghana is currently having 7,616 cases with 2,421 recoveries and 34 deaths.

Until we meet again next week, have a wonderful weekend

Your cases have really gone up since last week, haven't they? Even the deaths are much larger in number.

It's tough having to rely on public transportation, but, we must all do what we have to. I stopped taking it immediately, but, not everyone can. I understand that. Your family is lucky to have someone strong and dependable to do the shopping. I am glad for them.

The sofoline is really a great place to get all of your needs. How fortunate to have such a place close enough to shop. It is not too far from your house, right? I have to agree with you. I think they are opening up things much too quickly for me. I am okay with letting things stay shut a little bit longer. And for goodness sakes, will people wear masks! Please!

I want to thank you so much for giving me the inside look at sofoline! Without these pictures and your explanation, I would have no idea!

Thanks for joining!

Yes our cases are soaring now, we are almost in the 10,000 range however lots of the restrictions have been eased, final year students are even going back to school now and people are still not using the masks as they ought to is really disturbing. If i get money in the future the first thing i will buy will be a car because i have come to realize is not a luxury rather a necessity. I am even lucky to have market places very close to my home that i do not have to travel a long distance but is still not safe. I will continue to hope for the very best for my country and the world and it is my fervent prayer that a cure is found soon.

I agree with you on that! There is no lifting of restrictions in my area yet, they are waiting for the cases to be almost nonexistent or no new cases for a while. I agree as there are too many at risk when we let them into the stream all at once.

It is the law right now here to wear a mask if you are not able to be socially distant from someone and they will give you a ticket if you break the law. I have a market here that is very inexpensive, but, it is not sanitary, so I skip it even though I could save money. Not worth my health or my family.

A car is a necessity for me. I would have no way to get to work or if I walked to the metro station (underground subway) it would take a long time. Not very practical. A car is very freeing, but, between gas, insurance, and upkeep, it is, in fact, a luxury.

Like you, I wish the best for our countries and for the world. I pray there will be a cure or a vaccine for it soon. We cannot go on this way.

Have a peaceful weekend.
