Market Friday - Books, Balls and the Search for Trousers!

I popped into my local town to buy some new walking trousers. I've been trying for weeks. The shop assistants have told me shops aren't getting as much stock in because of the coronavirus .... sigh. Anyway, I tried again and popped into 'Go Outdoors' and came out with a pair of shorts! Not sure what went wrong?

Afterwards, I had a little walk around. These beach balls remind me of the hot sunny days on the beach. I've only just come back from a camping holiday near the beach. I had to come back a day early due to 60 mph winds. Of course, now I'm back it's forecast it to be hot next week. Perhaps that's why I subconsciously thought I needed another pair of shorts??

I then bumped into Marcus Rashford. Just before I asked him for his autograph, I realised he was actually a cardboard cut out. For people who don't follow football, Marcus Rashford plays for Manchester United and England. He's become a bit of a hero in the UK. He's from a one parent family where his mum found it hard to put food on the table. Marcus became involved in a campaign for free school meals in 2020. During lockdowns, school closures meant children in need would miss out on a free daily meal provided by schools. Marcus got the government to change their policy and extend free school meals for children during the summer holidays.

He has now launched a book club for disadvantaged children. He really is a remarkable young man.

My shopping expedition ended with an ice cream. I returned home without finding any new trousers. Of course, I did buy some shorts but the fact that I already have about six pairs at home is totally irrelevant!

Marcus Rashford is a hero in my eyes. Having been on the receiving end of doing without lends an extra sympathetic heart to the cause. (I am not implying he wouldn't be anyway, but, he already knew that a little extra can go a long way)While people like myself did not have to really go without, seeing what these things can do attracts more to lend a hand. I am really proud of him for stepping up to the plate and for making the government realize the need during the pandemic.

I want to thank you for pointing out his good deeds. I knew he was doing things, but, these are huge and meaningful to those in need.

The shorts? You can wear them next week. :)) I cannot believe it is going to be warm now. Where are those 60 MPH winds when you need them? Your posts really put a smile on my face. Always. Thanks for your humor and I love the color of your shorts! And what do they call that ice cream cone? It has all sorts of fancy-dancy stuff on top! Yes, please!

I sent a little extra to your wallet, this post is vastly underpaid!

Oh thank you! Now, about the ice cream cone. I'm from the Midland area and we call it raspberry juice. A friend of mine from the South of England calls it sauce. Not that we've had any disputes over it! 🙂

Thank you again!
