By chance, is Hive, Leofinance, 3Speak and many other 2nd layer tribes based on this blockchain immune to the Peter Principle?

Yeah, let's discuss!!

Oh! well, ok. But first let me explain audiovisually what's the Peter Principle to you.

"The Peter Principle"

Or in more simple words...

"Up or Out"

Well yes, of course. What did you expect? I am a physicist, not a mathematician. Therefore, I am way more interested in the "special" cases. Not much interested in the "general" case you know? I thought you would have guessed it by now!

Then. Could we set up a fruitful and insightful discussion here on this prickly topic?

¡Alright! Okie Dokie. Let's do it!!

We're too early to know that, but Hive is immune in terms of stakeholders being able to change their witness votes, enabling them to choose over incompetent ones.

Are you implying that Hive is immune due to the upcoming Governance changes planned for Hardfork 25? (Those regarding to Vote expiration for witnesses, proxies, and proposals?)

Or you mean Hive is immune right now?

It's immune to some degree since you can always remove your vote from the witnesses you don't find relevant, while with the HF25 it'll become even more robust and secured. Of course, we can't say it's immune, but there's a medicine that can solve it.

It's kinda hard to make a comparison to Hive due to its decentralized nature.

Yeah! it's indeed immune to some degree, because right now it's not so much.

Currently governance votes don’t expire, which can lead to votes that never change, either due to inattention of the voter or in worse cases, because the owner loses their keys or passes away (yes, on Hive, dead people really can still be voting). This can lead to non-optimal voting, since the stake isn’t properly monitoring the people and proposals being voted for.

Of course, we can't say it's immune, but there's a medicine that can solve it.

Let's just hope such medicine doesn't last as long in appear as the cancer cure. };)

Yep, I agree!! However, everything is possible in the Twilight Zone.

LOL, what a nice little observation of the reality outside...not sure where I'll be found but not behind the big desk lol.

In my work life I noticed that competence, loyalty and honesty are not the traits benefiting a promotion.

I will never be rich 😂.

As with the blockchain...maybe, maybe not...I just started here but after all there is humans behind it, so depending where they stand it might be immune...or not.

That's exactly the hardest part to solve this Rubick Cube eh? Depending where they stand! };)

Yup, for sure. It will never be solved I suppose. Too many what ifs and in the end we do what benefits us most. Maybe it would be moral to sacrifice the 5 workers because they all are assholes and mass murderers e.g. once the finished work ;).

That's precisely the invariable defect that conjectures and assumptions have. If we don't ask first, we'll never know for sure how assholes and mass murderers they are.

Hahaha yeah. No bling-bling nor promotions for the loyal, honest and competent/efficient pauper!! :D

Yeah poor me lol. But seriously, being in the outside world and missing out on the required traits like laziness, incompetence etc sucks.

And I'm having a hard time pretending and faking it lol, should work on myself 😂

Don't worry babe! Without those so common required human traits, you are very safe and virtually armored against any sort of sucking Fremdschämen. :D

Yes, It is!

The people at the top always want to promote someone who will never outshine them.
They want to promote the most competent one but must be incompetent in front of them in certain areas.

The race for incompetence is REAL.

And this is the reason why start-ups are rising, so many competent people are left behind that they started something of their own. And this has backfired. The same people who didn't want competition in their own company is facing the competition from the same person from outside.

Rather than collaborating with competent individuals, people are busy promoting incompetent ones.

The end to individualism is near, future is about collectivism.

Thanks

There's too much incompetence bred into what people do by way of school and stuff. It's unfortunate. Working with incompetent people is challenging but when one isn't incompetent you stick out like a sore thumb lol.

I dislike the term startup, it’s too trendy and some of the companies are shit on their face. These are old fashioned small business, how the economy was born but startup attracts cool headlines to draw investors in. I’ve seen numerous “startups” get hyped then can’t deliver and go bankrupt and investors lose their money.

How many truths put together in such a short and very eloquent comment!! eh?

Thank you for a very thoughtful input and contribution to this discussion. :)

As you know, I would never dare to make a click-bait title! ¡Never in my life! So without a doubt, it has to be either of the other two options. Hahahaha

Nice canoe by the way. };)

Ah this is pretty accurate indeed. There are so many people in positions that shouldn’t be there.

I have a director I work with that is the most egregious example of this. He could be a pretty damn good worker in his field but he got the coveted MBA degree and got a job as a director of a good size department. A 5 year old has better people skills then this guy does. He’s too arrogant to learn that he needs to adjust his style in order to work better with people.

The principle has its limitations too, I suppose. Sometimes people need to be put into situations to figure out whether or not they can handle that type of stuff. A good worker needs to develop skills to become a manager to further develop to a director. I can see where there is some debate on the initially facetious book. I needed to look it up to remember why it sounded familiar.
