How do you represent yourself?

Representing ourselves with a single identity sometimes only limits our own scope.

Some time ago I was advised to start taking pictures and join the photography community, I like photography, at least I am still a connoisseur of interesting macro images, architecture, and other natural landscapes.

Since I was first active on the blockchain, I have started to limit myself to writing topics related to open source technology and Linux.

Writing technical writing takes a lot of time, there are a lot of things to do, starting from trying the technical things that will be documented as well as other small things.

As with photography, the images we enjoy have gone through a long process of selection and editing.

Dedicated accounts for special topics?

I have created a special account the other day, this is because I lost the active key from the @iqbaladan account, then I created a new account specifically for @adanux technical matters.

Starting from scratch has its drawbacks, reputation, and branding. Nobody knows you here, you have to do the extra work to tell this Hive world that you are here and ready to join this community.

Another drawback is that you can't do many things such as commenting and writing posts, even if you have enough Hive power, you still have to be careful when making posts, too many will be considered spam.

Jack of all trades?

I will consider these options, or rather carry out experiments that are suitable and which work with me.

Think of it as a form of learning new things. Previously, I was also not too strict with the content rules on my personal blog, if you want to look back, there are quite a lot of categories in my blog. So, let's just give it a try.

I just create multiple accounts and then start posting specific topics intended for those accounts then consistently mentioning it's an alt account and it leads people back to this account. It's not really hard to tell it's my account as I keep a consistent brand name. But I do get the dilemma of posting diverse contents and gaining followers that aren't really interested with other stuff you post. Segregating to multiple accounts is fine imo, it just becomes a problem when people start selling a different personality behind because it's more on maximizing upvotes that's the moment rather than creating an identity.

It's a good idea to mention that a new account is an alternative account because eventually, people will come back because of something interesting that we provide, say an idea, creative work, or interesting pictures.

The real problem is when we use the alternative account to become something else and hide behind it as you said earlier.

Two to three accounts I think still make sense, more than five accounts will look like milking the system and there is no intention to interact and engage.

I tried the alt accounts for a bit. It’s not easy! I’ve been consistently posting since the first of the year, daily, as a way to stay on top of my stuff here. I can’t imagine using multiple accounts to do stuff in this scenario lol. I think it’s tough but good to have a mixed brand. My stuff is all over the place as well from data visualization, DIY car fixing, gardening to holistic health. It’s just what makes me, me. People can follow or not but we still put out our content. Folks can like and appreciate it respectively. Hopefully you can find a good balance but you can possibly also recover the keys to this account here. Did you set anything for recovery or have your owner key or master password? Sucks losing passwords but it happens!

Thanks for posting in the community here! It’s a lot of fun and a great place to post anything you’d like essentially.

Hi there, @cmplxty. Thank you for the comments that really helped me in taking a stand, I know what to do now, whatever it is, we still put out our content.

Our job is to create the best content and let others judge. About the active key, I've found it, lucky and terrible actually, my active key is still the same as the one on Steem, imagine if my Steem account is compromised, my Hive account will automatically have problems too.

I will make account recovery as soon as possible and change the old password. Thank you for this very useful feedback.
