Rant, Complain, Talk - Empty Supermarket Shelves

I'm surprised this is my first rant as the older I get, the more rantier I become. Is rantier even a word?

As supermarket and food supply workers are being forced to self-isolate because of the rona, more empty shelves are appearing at the supermarket. There's not enough staff to stack the shelves. There's also a shortage of delivery drivers and HGV drivers.

I popped into my local supermarket today and the cupboard was bare, as they say. When is the government going to sort it out so certain workers don't have to isolate? Are the MPs going to wait until it affects them, ie when Harrods or Selfridges have empty shelves??

My friend works at a supermarket and has been pinged on her bloody app, so she's got to isolate for 8 days. Who's left to cover her shift? A lot of people have been doubly vaccinated but still have to stay at home. It doesn't make sense.

To make it doubly worse, some of the refrigerators weren't working because of the heat! You can't make this shit up. I sometimes feel as though I'm an extra in some indie film. Thankfully, I still managed to find a lovely, chocolate dessert, so all is well with the world again.

I've just heard the government is coming out with another list of workers who don't have to isolate. It would be a lot better if workers just had a daily test if they've been doubly vaccinated, instead of going into isolation.

Personally, I've never had the app in the first place!

I refuse to panic buy. It took me 2 weeks to get toilet roll in the first lockdown, because people bought more than they needed. My friend phoned me to say they'd got toilet rolls in the shop, so I raced over there lol.

No! It isn’t panic buy. It’s psychic buy, I could see things are meant to get worse. Supply chain has broken down, the effect will be felt in August. And logistics will be worsen, it’s happening even here.

I guess the phrase "Buy Local" is really going to come into play what with countries stopping stuff from being distributed from other countries, because they are not letting ships dock, and even if they are able to dock there is no one to off-load the ship let alone distribute the contents because all the drivers are on lock down.

Yes, true. I've been going to small, independent fruit and veg shops but some of them have closed for good. Strange times.

These little shortages are getting annoying, I only recently started enjoying Root Beer again, and now it is becoming in short supply where I live, kind of sucks, but it is root beer float season.

Good lord...it seems like the rest of the world is going back to a year ago. Places over here don't seem to care about the virus any longer, for the most part. I haven't seen a mask in a store for months. Such a contrast right now

Even though it's recommended that we wear masks in shops, we can please ourselves. I've stopped wearing them now as a lot of people have had two vaccinations. I think we will have to live with it. There's more people still wearing masks though.

Not to sound too alarmist but I think the food shortages are only beginning. I think it will get worse. I've been watching a great podcast called Ice Age Farmer and he's been ontop of this type of stuff for a while and some of the things he talks about, which happens all around the world, are certainly coming to pass. We shall see how it all shakes out! Best thing we can do is support our local farmers and bakeries now. Those are the places that are going to get a lot of people fed and through this self-induced crisis here.

I don't think you are being alarmist. I'm actually more scared of all these rules and regulations than I've ever been about the coronavirus. Time will tell.

Yeah the agenda to force these things has been available for a long time. The world economic forum has had agenda 2030 ready to go for quite some time and the groups associated with them have been poised at the ready. Whitney Webb has done fantastic reporting on it if you’re interested! Her and James Corbett.

what application?
the authorities forced ppl to install some sh*t on their phones ?
all this just doesn't make any sence. to get a jab and to stay at home?
i prefer to stay clean from any chemicals
our shelves are ok, hope this hysteria is not any kind of sample for the other governments

It's a Track and Trace app. Once you've installed the app, you'll get an alert if it detects you have been in close contact with another user of the app who has tested positive for coronavirus. You can then self isolate so you don’t pass the virus on. It is purely voluntary. I've never bothered. It's had its flaws.

ah I see thank you for the info.
at least voluntary.

Are you beginning to wake up and see this is a plandemic.. All these measures for a bad flu.?? They want to crash economies, they want to reduce the middle class, They want to divide us. Lock downs and masks for 18 months has done more damage than any virus.. More people are dying from jabs then virus..

I've been suspicious from the start but have learnt to keep my mouth shut most of the time. It's difficult when most of your friends toe the line.

I wonder one thing, do you guys have supermarket app where you can order stuff from home? Where I live we have plenty applications where we can order basically everything from home, from groceries to booze to home supplies. The sellers are also regular people instead of big chains. But the bigger chains are also joining into the e-commerce market as they adapt with the situation.

There's also telemedicine, online pharmacies and more. Do you guys also have these services?

Though yes, it feels quite scary when you check on site and see the empty shelves. It's like something is about to happen or some shit. I felt that way too whenever I go out but if I use my "super app", an app that does everything from paying bill, sending money, shopping, getting food, there's actually no problem at all. The only thing that I can see is that this pandemic is such a huge shift on how we're going to live our life for the next decades. As someone in my early 20's this wasn't something I expected.

Hi yes we can order online. In the first lockdown, if you ordered online it took a long time to get a slot. This was because nobody wanted to go out or didn't want to queue at shops so put more pressure on the online service. It's a lot better now but I enjoy going out.

My friend has just been into our local Pets at Home shop and she's been told they might have to ration the dog food as they are having difficulty getting it.

I have been thinking about writing a post on super apps. So, after reading your post, I am more interested about working on it, which is why I was asking. Also, how many providers of online services are there? at least here there are 4 huge ones marketplace where I live and there wasn't any queue.

I think that these super apps, could be answer to such quite bit of case during these pandemic. From logistics to even health services. There was a case of panic buying milk where I live recently, but online it's still available yet at a steep price, the same thing with oxygen.

Also thanks for replying to my question!

I think most of our big supermarkets do online deliveries. I'm not one for ordering online much apart from Amazon and Ebay. Good luck with it, anyway! I'm off to buy extra loo rolls! 😁
