Things Beyond Control

Today was slated to be a different topic but things change so you roll with the punches.

Sweat Turns Cold
So I think one might get the impression interacting with me that I don’t usually make a big deal about things and I let the insignificant things just roll off. Life’s too short to keep on about spilled milk in my opinion. Not everyone has that same mindset though. What started as an innocent conversation turned south quick and headed right for the South Pole, frozen solid. Minor attempts to bring back the more reasonable temperature weren’t successful so there it ended.
Local Control
Things out of my control I tend to not spend a lot of time or energy on and I think that’s what sparked, or frosted rather, the conversation. The point of contention is a valid one however when one is presented with a choice to push an issue that’s not in ones control, you make a choice. That choice sometimes leads to getting taken advantage of but is it worth the headache of constant diligence for said scenario? In many ways that’s what we try to avoid spending life force worrying about. Let’s hope the journey back to balmier weather isn’t an arduous journey through stormy seas and filled with hidden perils.

Hey there Skaterdude I've missed our interactions as life has dragged me (and I mean bloody dragged), away from the blockchain for a while.
Obviously, this kind of interaction happens to us all from time to time, you know how those humans are, right?
The key thing for me is that you said you acknowledged what was happening and tried to steer things away from any contentious subject matter & to me, that is awesome... You didn't dig your heels in and defend your point to the death, because like ya say, life is waaaay too short. That says a lot about you as a person and I like that.
The other person clearly believed that being right was more important than being agreeable and maintaining the relationship, so that, too, says a lot about them, that doesn't necessarily make them a bad person, we have probably all been on that side of a conversation at times too, usually when something is incredibly important to us (but I freely admit to being jerkish at times I believed I was right, even though it's not an attractive quality).
You've moved on, integrity intact and it just needs to filed under Meh! I guess lol.

If it’s a point that doesn’t really mean a heck of a lot to me, I don’t dig in and entrench my position. There’s times and places for that stuff for sure but this was not at all one of them. Thankfully there just needed to be time and it is all better now. In situations like that, sometimes the best course of action is just breathing and giving it thought for a few hours or a day and you will allow cooler heads with rational thought to get along. Was glad that it turned out that way! They were passionate about the topic and for good reason but at the same time went a little further than needed. Glad we are past it though! Makes for a tough time sometimes :D

With every year that passes rants become more frequent and more vociferous, hey I'm 50 next year, this is, I am told by my Daughters, to be expected.
It's fab to know that such a place exists for me to rant-a-plenty, I commend you on thinking of the whole 'grumpy old dude' demographic, we get overlooked so much these days 😎
