Today I got some annoying shit with my phone and connection!

No Service

One of those things that you’d expect to encounter when you are in the middle of the woods, on a mountain or something, is your phone acting poorly. When did I have it happen to me? In the middle of a damn parking lot and store! What the shit?

It’s definitely a modern problem to have but these companies and their products are purposely going to shit. I think Apple and others were caught intentionally slowing down older devices so that people would get mad and upgrade them, creating more business and customers. This surprises me in the least!

I’m in a store trying to kill time waiting in the check out line. I figure I’m going to check hive and see what’s going on, drop a comment or two. I open a browser and wait, it’s taking a bit to load. I check my service at the top to see what’s taking so long, full bars of LTE! I usually operate at home with 1-2 bars of LTE and run faster than a chipmunk. I have full service, better service than in my own house and I can’t get anything to load. What the hell is this?

I close the apps, flip on airplane mode and relaunch things. This usually gets my connection a kick in the pants and fixes most of these tedious issues. Doesn’t work. I’m starting to get annoyed now, internally cursing the phone companies and device companies for intentionally slowing people down so they buy new phones. My phone is a few years old and the last upgrade killed me, my phone lags left and right it’s obnoxious. Am I going to start getting bad connections, to force me to buy a new phone? Pain in the ass..

I restart my phone entirely now and hope that it’s going to work, at this point I’m messing with my phone while they are processing my stuff. I don’t like being that person, I enjoy people contact. I put my phone away usually but not now. I open up again and now I’m connected but I get the no internet warning. With full internet service!

I’m pissed now, trying to figure out what the hell I can do just to do something that wasn’t important to me but now it’s suddenly important. I wanted to listen to a podcast on my way home. I’m trying to do that more so that I use my time for good education stuff instead of listening to music. I get a few miles down the road and pull into a different parking lot but thankfully my phone finally decides to work. I spent a good 25 minutes trying to get this stupid thing to do what I wanted it to do.

Are we far too dependent on our phone nowadays? I’m typing all of this on mine. I think we certainly are too dependent on the damn things!
