Making Hive a better place. #Rules4Voting initiative | Haciendo de Hive un lugar mejor, iniciativa #Rules4Voting

¡Hola Hivers!

Hey, Hivers! I hope you're all doing well. Today I make this post to participate in the initiative of @ElPausero #Rules4voting, which was created with the aim of making a little awareness about the way the platform is used and to know what our criteria are in terms of quality both as content creators and curators.

First of all I want to tell a little bit about what Hive means to me and the way I have visualized it since I came in a little over two months ago.

At first I had many doubts about what to do, I did not know what topics to address or how to do it, I told myself that I would take it as a "paid" hobby , since I wanted to start a blog for some time, you could say that this fell like a ring to the finger. However, I wanted to do things right, so I researched and asked everything I could to learn how this platform works, quite different from what I knew (Blogger).

I spent a month on it until I felt ready to start publishing and it turns out that when I did, I couldn't stop. I liked writing so much, and doing it well, that I even neglected my work to dedicate myself to a topic, thinking "I'm going to talk about this in my blog" from the main idea, the content, translations, to the photos I'll use, the graphic elements, etc.

With this in mind it is quite logical then, that since I like it so much, I want to take care of it and help improve this ecosystem so that we can all continue to benefit from it in the future, it is for this reason that I join this initiative.

My way of valuing the publications I read and vote on depends on one main and almost universal factor: Effort. When a publication, whatever the subject, is made with effort it is noticed, and when it is not, it is noticed much more. By this I don't mean that every post should be a masterpiece, but in general I like to see that the person who published it did more than take a random photo, write three or four meaningless lines and that's it. It doesn't matter if you are not an Ace in edition or if you don't have a professional camera, I have seen editions in Paint or Powerpoint and low resolution photos that I liked as much as any other.

I also think that each post should have a clear purpose or objective, that before sitting down to write it should be contemplated, What for or who is it being done? What do you want to achieve with it? Since for me there are two possible reasons why someone is in Hive: as a full time job or as a hobby; Whatever the reason, the goal should be always to do it well.

About the value and percentage of my votes, currently these at 100% have a value that varies from 0.001 to 0.002 depending on my voting mana, therefore I always place them at 100%, the better or more interesting I find the post I comment or reblog, sometimes both. However, in the future, when my vote has a higher value, I think I will continue to give 100% to those who meet my expectations. For anyone who has made an effort, receiving a comparable economic compensation becomes an impulse and motivation to maintain that quality and keep improving.

As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, from the start I wanted to make an effort to make good publications, I have taken care of my writing and spelling, not only because I was told it was important but also because it makes a text look more organized and prolix, besides allowing the information to reach the reader in a proper way. Every time I have an idea I try to illustrate it with images and elements that complement the text adequately. I had a good run with my first three publications and received whale votes, this made me very happy as it meant I was doing well. Perhaps with some subsequent posts I didn't do so well if the primary goal is to get a whale vote. However, in those posts, in addition to comments, I received a larger number of votes, which although they were of lower value, for me meant that a huge number of people had read my content and not only found it good, they liked it.

I decided to keep my standards and continue improving, publishing original content, putting more and better photos, as well as some simple but well elaborated editions, learning more about markdown, always translating into English so that more people can read it, among other things. I understand that if people only pursue a lucrative goal and believe that only looking for votes from some whale is the way to achieve it, their content will be biased because of it, which affects the functioning of this ecosystem. For this reason I really write my posts for everyone to enjoy, and I love it when there is some interaction from someone who really did it, as it is as valuable reward as the monetary gains.

To conclude I want to mention an example that I always have in mind when writing a post for Hive, I like to think of each publication as an "essay" on a particular topic, since many times you go through a research process to a greater or lesser extent in order to develop the content, as well as making sure to add the elements that complete it.

I hope that this dynamic will serve as fuel to start the creative engine of all of us who are part of this beehive.

Buena suerte 🍻

Agree with this. We owe it to ourselves to complete any task to a high standard. It doesn't matter what our 'ability level' is we should be trying to be the best we can be.

That's right! it´s simple, if somebody is doing it for the profits then they really have to EARN it. and if they are doing it as a hobby, just because they love it they will be motivated to do great things.
I'm glad you liked my post! i really love getting all kind of comments, and more when they come from a non-spanish speaker, It means that the time spent translating the text is worth it
