DIY - 1994-97 Ford 7.3 Powerstroke ~ Vacuum Pump Replacement

(Edited)

The Ol’ Beast is back under the wrench again... this time I caught the vacuum pump before we had a complete failure. In the 7.3 Powerstroke the vacuum pump is used to boost the breaking power and control the blend doors on your heating and A/C... that I know of. I have noticed my breaks being weak and my A/C just isn’t very cold... not to mention the metal shavings and oil all over the place.

This repair is pretty simple and straight forward. It took me around 20 minutes and that included shooting the video. So if a shop says it’s gonna take a few hours... they are lying to you.

The only tools needed are a breaker bar and a 14mm socket, 10mm box end wrench (preferably a ratcheting one) and a pair of pliers.

Remove serpentine belt, remove 3-10mm bolts, remove vacuum hose and the old pump it out. Honestly it’s that easy.

Well I hope you enjoyed another quick DIY repair done by yours truly!!

Until Next Time...
