GERMINATING SEEDS 1.0

Hello Spliffers !

Today lets talk about the basics of germianting seeds !

Here i i will talk first about the different ways to start your weed plant, so you can pick the one that best fits you !

first you must know that we have some main factors you must consider !

1- Humidity (your plant needs between 70% to 90% Humidity to germinate heatlhy)

2- oxygen (your plant need a lot of it to grow, if you plant your seed and cut the oxygen, it will quickly die!)

3 - Darkness (its important to avoid direct light or pretty much any kind of light at this stage)

4 - heat (seed should be in a 20-24celcius , bringing it below 19 and above 30 will give your plant a really hard time trying to grow.

SEED PREPARATION :

There are several ways to start your seed, but one thing you will need in all of them, its water.
To start waking up the seed, i put them into a glass of dechlorinated water for 24 - 72h using a PH of 5.8 to 6.3. They usually sink in about 24-36hours, and you know its time to plant !

TIME TO PLANT THE SEED.

Here ill show the most used ways in this step.

1- PLANTING DIRECT ON THE SOIL

image.png

For direct planting, i prefer let my seed sit in the water til i can see like a 3mm root.
Soil should be pre hydrated so you dont have to water right before planting, and making the seed move beneath the earth.
make a small hole on top of the earth, about the size of the seed, and gently cover with, dont press the soil over the seed !!
i choose this methood specially for autoflowers, so you dont have to transplant it and stress your girl.

2- JIFFYS

image.png

Definitely not my first option.
this method in my opinion is very dangerous, cause JIFFY can hold a really large amount of water, and might end up drowning your seed. its pretty much the same as the previous way (direct on soil). you should just pre water yout jiffy, you will see it will get like 9x bigger. before planting the seed, try to press the jiff a little, so u can squeeze the excess water in it.

3 - RAPID ROOTERS

image.png

One of the easiest ways to do it. just water it, plant your seed in it, and place on your pot. squeeze before planting, to remove excess water aswell !

4- ROCK WOOL

image.png

These are nice ! perfect for holding water, stable PH and easy transplant ! mostly used for hydroponics.
just drown in water, and squeeze to remove excess before inserting the seed, you should keep it on a dark and warm place till the sprout comes out ! and be awayre that wool rocks are very alcaline, and you might need to bring it PH down before planting !

For all these methoods you will always need to mantain the humidity from 70-90%, the roots always facing the botton of the pot and a warm place.
after the sprout comes out, its time for light ! you can even use 24h light at this time.

image.png

i like to put claw stones in the botton of the pot, this will help to drain the water and make more room to roots grow !

TIP : ALWAYS FILL YOUR POT TILL THE TOP ! After your first waters, the midia will compress and the volume will go down on pot, making it full will help the roots to have more space and oxygen to develop !

I HOPE THIS WILL HELP YOU START !
