Can a Cat Have an OCD? [Deranged Photography Contest - Cats]

Good afternooon, fellow Hive Bees!

This is not my entry for the Deranged Photography Contest - Cats hosted by @derangedvisions. (I actually entered with another photo, included in a post I made last week. But still.. no harm done in advertising the contest, right?)

This cute looking cat was walking on a sidewalk in the streets of Bragança and I found it funny that, intentionally or not, he was avoiding stepping on the lines between the stones in the pavement. 🤗

Check out how he carefully placed his paws in the stones without ever touching the lines which separated them...

This is a behaviour of some OCD patients. They walk without ever touching the lines in the floor, just like that game that we all used to play as kids.

A bit later the little critter proved me wrong... and stayed on the street with his paws on the lines between the stones.

He stood there for a while... and stepping on those lines didn't seem to bother him, after all:

Then he decided to move on and head back home to have dinner. Nah, I'm kidding. He just had to move because a car was coming and he was sitting in the middle of the street! 🤭

Still... This got me thinking... can a cat have an OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder)?

I mean, is that even possible or are these kind of disorders exclusive to the human kind? 🤔

Nice little story...and yes, i think a lot of animals are very sensitive
and could have a disorder created by some physical or psychological
trauma...

I wouldn't call it OCD, but it's possible he or she (what do I know, right?) had some bad memories and associated those lines with something unpleasant. Who knows?
You should have asked him/her. 🤔

Thanks @trincowski.

The animal cat that I love the most. Cats can maintain stability while walking, imagine if they jump they must also fall, obviously because of their fast movements.

Eheheh. Lucky for them, they are born with a "always land on the paws" feature by standard. 😄

What a handsome ginger fellow this is, too! I guess cats can have OCD. It could be the reason why they keep knocking things off tables and shelves. It might be because it's not been arranged properly, and it's triggering their OCD XD

Thanks for sharing, and a warm regards to this handsome kitty /ᐠ。ꞈ。ᐟ\

Indeed. That's something to consider. Maybe I should quit my job and do a thesis on Cats and OCD! 🤓

Thank you for the visit.

I wish you the best of luck, mate. If my experience has taught me anything thus far, is that cats are impossible to understand. They're an incomprehensible species 😼! Cheers for the content, as always :-)
