Driftless Images : Spring's First Thunderstorm

Yesterday, being a very warm day here, saw a cold front blow through and create some very active thunderstorms. I took our daughter to the Mississippi River to burn some time and was trying to capture some views of the river for today's post, and the clouds started to turn dark in roughly one hour of time.

Local legend has it this spot, where two rivers converge into the Mighty Mississippi River, prevents tornadoes from landing in the town I live in.

And then, the dark clouds began to approach...

And finally, it approached and hung over the river, with dark clouds covering the setting sun.

It's remarkable to think that not more than three weeks ago, temperatures were in the negative F's...yesterday, we hit +60F for a high. It's no wonder tornado watches were in full effect.

Thanks as always for checking these out.
