Rare white hummingbird. Unique jewel of nature.

There are times when you go to take photos, that nature gives you unique things. One of them was when I found this beautiful and unique white hummingbird.

An individual of Talamanca Hummingbird (Eugenes spectabilis) that presented a genetic alteration called leucism, in which the hummingbird produces the pigment, but does not deposit it in its feathers.

That is the great difference with albinism, since individuals with this alteration do not produce the pigment and tend to be animals more sensitive to diseases.

Another factor that influences its rarity is that only one out of every thousand hummingbirds is born with this alteration and most do not survive the first months of life, especially due to predation.

Thank you very much for your support. It is a really beautiful bird, unfortunately a few days ago I called the place where I took the photographs and they tell me that the white hummingbird has not returned for many days, I hope it has not been predated.

Hopefully it has just moved on; most of the hummingbird species migrate I think .

I hope so, it would be sad to lose it, that hummingbird became a great attraction in the area, many bird photographers came from different countries to photograph it, just like the quetzal.
