A Summer Drive In The Mountains

We left home for a short drive up the road and into the hills on the forest roads. We are lucky to live on the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountain Range and it is just a short drive to be out in nature and in the woods. As we traveled the bumpy road suddenly the forest opened up these views of Mt Washington.

My forest road ride for the last 15 years. On the far right of the screen you can see Three Finger Jack.

This is Six Mile Butte rising up behind where we stopped. There are quite a few butte type features in the area. Probably due to the large amount of geologic upheaval here as recently as 1500 years ago.
And one last shot of Washington. A 10 shot panorama shot at 70mm zoom. I finally got one where I didn't miss any shots and the pano turned out the way I envisioned it would. Yay for me. ๐

After enjoying the view of the mountain we jump back in the Jeep and head a little closer to the wilderness that surrounds Mt Washington. To our great surprise we found that the wild flowers in this area were in full bloom. Scroll on and enjoy the show! ๐

I may have gotten a little carried away with the shots of flowers here, but it was just such an explosion of color that I'm not sure I really caught how beautiful it was.
