Deer encounter at Fishcreek Provincial Park
I have encountered many deer over the years. This was my first time seeing them at Fishcreek Provincial Park. Located within the Calgary city limits it is one of the largest parks inside any city in North America.

At first I only saw something with its head towards the ground in the trees. For a brief moment I was worried I was seeing a cougar until I got a little closer and found a pair of deer grazing.

I was on the other side of a clearing and there were many trees between us. I know they saw me but didn't seem to startled as I kept my motions calm and relaxed. I slowly took a few steps to get closer and decided I would stop and have the trees between us so that they wouldn't feel threatened.

I noticed a little later in my hike that there was another deer grazing on a hill. I must've watched for close to an hour just relaxing hoping I could get a closer look. The deer stayed far on the hill content to graze away.
