Fluid; formless, shapeless| photos from a session with Karina.

I stumbled on an old video of legendary martial artist; Bruce Lee. And while I've seen the video, and even read the quote before, it didn't make so much sense until recently.

He said;

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water my friend.
-Bruce Lee

Aside from striking a moment of deep thoughts in me, it also reminded me of some photos I created for Karina. I did the session sometime this month. I think around the first week.

Most of the photos had movements to them that depicted fluidity. I shared monochrome variants of the photos from the set. However I'll sharing the colored variants from when I switched to a brown backdrop. These ones were dreamy and soft. Check them out:

I got a great deal of feedback from those photos. Like genuine feedback. Most comments had people(friends and previous clients) telling me how much my work has improved. And I was grateful to hear such remarks. It was a sign that I was achieving my goal of "getting better with each image".

I had to look at my work again after reading those comments, and truly, I had improved on my work even from 4-5 months ago. That's growth! I'm grateful for growth.

In other news, it's amazing sometimes how the least desired things turn out the best things. For Karina's session, we were to shoot 3 outfits. After shooting the first two, she said she wasn't interested in the third. She said she didn't think she looked good.

It took some time to convince her to shoot the outfit. We actually spent less than 15 minutes shooting the outfit. I just told her to sway with the dress, she reluctantly did, but those photos were the best. Or what do you think?

For those photos, I tried to create more fluidity by shooting at a very slow shutter speed. Somehow, I didn't get so much motion blur. But the photos were soft as I wanted them.

Really great set, I like the theme feels very fluid and water like.

That dress has a lovely flow to it. The model has a natural beauty that goes well with the flow of the dress. The color and backdrop is all cohesive too. This looks like it was a great photoshoot all the way around. Plus, who doesn't love some of the wisdom Bruce Lee had to offer! Cool post bro!

Thank you! Thank you! I'm sorry that this comment is coming after yours that highlighted my inefficiency in replying to comments. Like I said in that one, I'll try to do better.

Thank you for the kind comment. I sincerely appreciate it.

Thanks bro! I think you will find it satisfying to engage. I left a comment there and one here as well. I would catch up on all your comments that have been missed before posting anything new. It's easier to stay caught up when you are where you need to be. This is a social media platform... so being social is part of the deal. It's also nice to expand beyond your own posts and blog to engage others elsewhere. I'm not trying to tell you how to do your thing.... but being part of the community means engaging others. If it weren't for my support and a couple of others you wouldn't be where you are now. You have a higher reputation than me, which i don't mind, but i sacrifice posting on my own blog to give back and as i said in my comment over there... you can see my comment to post ratio. I am not comparing me to you in a way where you have to be and do me. You do you... but as you pointed out you could do a better job engaging your own content and audience. So, thanks for not taking my constructive criticism negatively. I love your photography and just want to see you be a better steward over your growth and development! Cheers bro!

Thank you again! For being so kind with me. I understand my faults better now.
While I won't try to vindicate my nonchalance, there's quite a reasonable reason why it seems I don't engage here.
The answer is, I deal with so much pressure offline. It's a lot that sometimes I can stay a whole week without being here. Sometimes, it's a whole month.

In the little off time I'm able to get, I just post stuff and get it moving. But I promise I'll be better. In the off days I get, I'll try to engage.

I totally understand real life getting more real and the pressures. But, like i said, i curate and manage more than one community as well as an art contest and more. I sacrifice posting on my own blog and you will be hardpressed to see any community curation post i don't respond to every comment on or every entry into the SplinterLands art contest or every single comment on any of my personal blog posts. I am not a big fan of engaging in comments but it's part of what makes social media Social. 2 posts to over a thousand comments... and i have a real life with real pressures too. I won't say anymore about it because i think you are genuinely remorseful and understand that a higher bar of excellence should be your standard. You can keep posting and not engaging... it's really up to you and what you want to be and do here on Hive. I do think you have the ability to be a great leader and pillar of quality. That's why i am spending the time to explain my point of view. I hope that you have an awesome day and that these comments have fueled and motivated you for the better. Take care bro!
