I'm not a fan of shooting(a human subject) at night. The bokeh from street lights and headlamps on vehicles make it interesting though. Few days ago, due to certain circumstances, I had to shoot at night.

It's Gina's birthday today, and she honoured me with the privilege of doing the photo shoot. We spent several weeks planning everything. From outfit, to makeup, to hairdo, to the desired location, etc. Everything happened correctly until the day for the shoot.

We had originally planned to shoot at a natural location with greens and all, and we planned to do the shoot early enough. Unfortunately, we couldn't. The makeup artist and hair stylist had delayed things, and by the time they were done, it was past 6pm.

Consequently, it meant that we had to start working out other ideas in real-time. By this time, our our mood and emotions have been dampened. I couldn't think of anything to do except shooting at the studio which Gina refused. Until the suggestion from my colleague came that we shot outside.

I kicked against it initially. But I saw Gina's mood lifted a little after the suggestion was made. So outside we shot then.

Not the best night time portraits you may have seen, but I'm glad I was able to nail. I particularly loved the colorgrading. The blue accent in the shadows complimented the lights in the photos. If I scored my effort, it'll be a 7 out of 10.
