Seeing without seeing (Before/After)

One photography skill that develops over time is the ability to curate images. Seeing the potential of a photo comes after a process of capturing photos, editing them, then going out to capture new exposures with the knowledge of how you can edit them. Repeating this process over and over trains the eye to see what isn't there, but could be.

Another benefit of this skill developing over a long period of time is you can go back to old photos and see what you didn't see before. A seemingly underexposed image, or missed opportunity can be turned into something special.

A single exposure here with dark rocks, a slightly burnt out sun (I was going for sun stars at the time) that isn't exactly centred, was passed over as unusable. My past self was more interested in super long exposures with smoky water. Since my editing knowledge has evolved over the years, I was able to mentally unveil what was waiting in this exposure.

I kinda like t he before shot just as much as the after shot for completely different reasons XD

Was this one a long process or relatively simple shoving sliders around kinda thing?
