Up High and Down Wet on Mount Lafayette, New Hampshire, USA (6 pics)

Mount Lafayette is the highest point in the Franconia Range in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, United States.

There are several trail to chose from, some of which are part of the Appalachian Trail, which leads to over 3 000 feet (900 meters) of vertical drop to its exposed summit.

We chose to do the most popular, the Franconia Ridge Trail Loop and we were not disappointed.

The path of about 15 km is not very easy, it is quite uneven and the difference in altitude is high, but it represents a nice little challenge which allows us to go through the 3 peaks of Mount Little Haystack, Mount Lincoln and Mount Lafayette.

The White Mountains region is home to the highest mountains in the northeast of the United States.

The Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Monroe, Madison, Eisenhower, Pierce, Jackson and Webster Mountains are part of the Presidential Range... no need to explain where their name come from.

But there are also the Lincoln, Lafayette, Bond Cliff, Bond, West Bond and Willard Mountains which offer a great landscape.

Walking the ridges of Mount Lafayette is a superb experience.

The view, no matter which direction you look is amazing.

The best part of the day, the sun came out has we reached the summit.

I enjoy hiking, I feel like I am at the top of the world when I walk on the ridge.

The blue sky, clean air and good company make it a beautiful day in the mountains of New Hampshire.

After a nice full day hiking on Mount Lafayette, this is what was waiting for us at the end of the trail.

It was so refreshing after a hot day.

All hike should be concluded by a nice swim in a waterfall.

When it is 35 Celsius in the shade, we are very happy to finally find a beautiful waterfall to cool off.

However, at the top, it was cool, but during the descent, the sun came to warm us up.
