Around the Great Library of Alexandria in Alexandria, Egypt (5 pics)

Alexandria is well known for the Great Library of Alexandria that was one of the largest and most significant libraries of the ancient world.

The Great Library does not exist anymore and the modern library is actually underground and surrounded by art and palm trees.

This is the view of the Mediterranean Sea from the new library of Alexandria, Egypt.

It has been erected to commemorate the lost of the Great Library of Alexandria.

The library itself can contain more than 8 million books, has a modern design and is composed also of a few museums and permanent exhibitions.

A must see if you are in the region.

Alexandria is the second-largest city in Egypt and a major economic center, along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea in the north central part of the country.

So, this is a pretty rare shot to get.

It was during Ramadan and it was around 6 pm so people where all home preparing supper, otherwise, we would see a busy street.

Here, a nice piece of abstract art in front of the library and the Nile.

Details of different ages writings on the outside wall of the Alexandria Library.

If fact, the wall is covered with alphabets of the world.

What a cool idea for a library.

The city is a nice contrast from the rest of the country.

We can see the citadel, a beautiful library, a palace, catacombs, and so on.

A must-see city for a complete Egyptian tour.
