A little glimpse of a charming Chinese city, Xi'An, China (6 pics)
The Bell Tower of Xi'An is the largest and best preserved one amongst the many bell towers from ancient China.
It was built in 1384 during the early Ming Dynasty and is a symbol of the city of Xi'An.
Inside the Bell Tower, we can admire several large bronze-cast bells from the Tang Dynasty.
The Terracotta Army is composed of more than 8000 Soldiers and horses funerary statues.
The figures, dating from approximately the late third century B.C. were discovered in 1974 by local farmers.
The fact that we can admire them today is amazing.
Also, all statues are unique.
If you look closely, you will notice that the soldiers all have different faces.
A colossal job.
The army was created to protect the emperor Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China, in his afterlife.
Qin Shi Huang's Mausoleum is also at proximity.
Here are the figures you can spot in the different pits:
generals
warriors
chariots
horses
officials
acrobats
strongmen
musicians
The Small Wild Goose Pagoda from Xi'An was built between 707–709; during the Tang dynasty.
Once high of 45 m (147 ft) it is now only 43m because it was damaged by an earthquake in 1556.
The pagoda has a brick frame built around a hollow interior and fifteen levels of tiers.
