(ESP-ENG) Cosas de fotografía - La historia de la Nikon // Photography stuff - The Nikon Story.
Hello friends, good vibes everyone.
Foto de mi propiedad.
For today we are not going to talk so much about technicalities or photography as such but where everything comes from, where the devices, cameras and lenses that we use today come from. I think it is important to know a little, only superficially, the origin of these things, whether due to a matter of passion and taste for this profession or mere general culture.
I chose Nikon because it is the main brand that I use for my work in photography, I honestly like their products more than those of any other brand, I am not saying that they are worse but it is simply a matter of taste. Eventually I will be reviewing the other houses as well, for example Canon, Sony, Leica, etc. Without further ado, then, we are going to talk a little about the Nikon.
- Historia // History.
This company was born in 1917 with the union of three Japanese firms and was originally under the name "Nippon Kogaku". At that time Nikon did not make any cameras, only optical products such as telescopes, microscopes and some measuring instruments for scientists. It is from the 30s when it begins with the manufacture of lenses or objectives for cameras from 50mm to 700mm under the name "NIKKOR" which is a derivative of "Nippon Kogaku".
This camera that I show you was the first Nikon prototype back in 1947. A 35mm very similar to the Leica which were the predominant brands of the time. At that time there were several names for this camera: Bentax, Nicca but in the end when they finally finished with the final design the camera was named "NIKON". The person responsible for this change was Joe Ehrenreich who was the distributor of this company in the United States.
The anterior camera was only produced for two years because they realized that the speed was not the indicated one, in addition to the fact that they were in the middle of the Second World War and the export of certain elements was complicated. So, the new "Nikon M" was born in August 1949 with a 50mm lens that, to everyone's surprise, was not as popular as it was believed to be. Due to all this, these were not exported to the United States and represented one of the most important losses for the company.
Time passed and we landed in 1957 with the third camera, the "NIKON SP" which was aimed at photography professionals. This little one was a great success since it had the capacity to have six lenses from 28mm to 135mm, a shutter speed of 1/60 and for each shot the noise was minimal.
After this, we continued with the manufacture of cameras such as the Nikon S2, S3, S4, until we reached those that are still valid today, which are the Nikon F models, which would be the first 35mm single lens reflex in 1959.
These last 2 that I showed you are a pair of cameras that came out in series which also had great success around 1965, both 35mm. From here we go to the 80s with the F4 where we already began to see cameras with a built-in motor.
This also 35mm was the first professional camera with autofocus in addition to the possibility of accepting manual and automatic lenses from 1959 to that date. In the same way, it had the possibility of being able to take photos in vertical format and incorporated the use of AA batteries.
This last camera was the turning point since it was from that moment when this industry took another impulse and new models began to emerge, more and more professional and with more facilities for the photographer. From here we come to this year, to 2021, with the most recent camera launched by this company, the "NIKON Z9".
We don't really know much about this monster since its release is very recent, in fact it was earlier this month. The little that is known is that it has a processor capable of recording 8K videos, and with that feature it says a lot about what we can expect from this great camera.
With this we end this very brief journey through the history of Nikon with the most important and innovative cameras for the time in which they were launched. There are many more cameras that I left out because they were simply made to seek to improve small details of all these that I showed you.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos leemos en la próxima!
Well my people for today is everything, I hope you liked it.
