My Daily Photos + its FRIDAY!
Check out the Article before its too late!

It's a good day for ducks my friends,

The rain in Vietnam is more advanced than you know! It takes no prisoners, it brings all the rain, all the time. It's powerful and unrelenting, but you know what? It's always so refreshing. And you know what? It never gets old!!

Often I am humbled by the sheer volume of water that falls from the sky here. But, like... It doesn't just fall down, it also falls sideways, and even up at you from the ground. The rain this country is super advanced. I mean it went to school and it's got its doctorates and PhD in wetness. It's so wet that the ocean even puts on a rain jacket when it sees the clouds coming. It's so wet that Teflon get soaked. That's how much it rains in Vietnam. Truly amazing.

Anyways, it's just the start of the rainy season here... the monsoon will be soon, now, all this rain, is only the precursor to its arrival. So you can expect more rainy photos for me as the weeks go on. I am debating whether not moved to Saigon for the rainy season, or continue on my travel ways, for stick it out here and see what develops.

My heart and my passion is for travel, Danang provides a nice home base from which to launch adventures from. Just sort of unsure moment what path to take, what to focus on, and where to go.

Well let's jump into our daily photos for today with some commentary. We can talk about the above things some other time.

The Daily Photos

Most my daily photos I shoot is on my phone, went hanging out or going places. I really would like to bring my larger camera with me, however just having so much stuff on the body makes travel more difficult, also rain in such... any who...

This first photos of one of my friends in the elevator. Ready to go out for the night, ninja style.

Here are some ominous clouds rolling in overhead. Did you know the weight in one of those clouds is over million pounds? It can easily crush you.

I did go to a camera repair shop over the last few days to buy new lens, and took some photos of their desk.

I'm not sure if this guys name is Buffalo, or if it's just where they got the sign... I think his name is Buffalo, yes let's go out that his name is Buffalo. There is actually a saying here in Vietnam you call someone a "young Buffalo", that generally means someone who is young and more wanting to show off, like someone who might buy expensive motorbike and drive fast, without thinking too much... Like a young Buffalo would.

Oh the rains came to put them puddles on the floor.

20211004_144941-01.jpeg

Even with the monsoon season approaching, there are still a few moments of sunshine.

20211005_165616-01.jpeg

perhaps not the most sexiest thing the shoot, but I thought it looked pretty cool.

I also enjoy the sidewalks in the rainy season, they get so abundant with green life growing. I would imagine it's a never ending battle between keeping the jungle repressed and the streets clean.

Well there you have it my friends, 8 delightful photos on this delightful Friday morning. I hope you have a great start to your weekend. You want to chat me up, hit me up in a comment down below, I generally try to respond over the next few days as time permits, and my mental sanity permits. lol.

Also much gratitude and thanks for you and your support.

Talk with you soon ~Cheers

I know that pathway in the end there. I have been there when they clear it and it is a painstaking process done with trowels... no chemicals at all and this was a real surprise to me. Since this country basically encourages roadside garbage burnoffs I thought this was shockingly environmentally responsible of them.

There is actually a saying here in Vietnam you call someone a "young Buffalo", that generally means someone who is young and more wanting to show off,

This is funny, because calling someone a buffalo or "Qwai" in Thai is basically the worst thing you can call someone. Them's fightin' words!

I do agree that the garbage burn off on the side the road is no good. It's a big problem here... Moreover I believe, waste management needs to be addressed. With the explosive growth of the city and of the economy, what do you do with the trash mounds? just looking at the hotels around us here, the level of trash and garbage that they will produce, the bars and restaurants... There is no good solution. Perhaps implementing a incineration system much like to have on Manhattan USA would be a solution, but it costs much to set up... Trash is something that Vietnam has to start looking at and coming with better solutions for.

"young Buffalo" - trẻ trâu <- that is the proper spelling. I would not necessarily say it is a complement here, perhaps a low-level insult, or a joking comment amongst friends... I did not know calling someone a Buffalo or "Qwai" in Thai, was a big insult... I do find it fascinating the many things people find insulting. Like sticking your tongue out at somebody in New Zealand, you could be murdered for that!

I know a ton of Kiwi's and this was never mentioned. I would have taken advantage of this had I known.... only with people I know really well though of course.

The waste management in Da Nang really isn't that bad compared to other places I have been in Asia but the reliance on plastic bags and the way that the people working at the shops are just like robots when it comes to their distribution is kind of annoying to me. I go into the Full Market with my own cotton / burlap bad and despite the fact that the things I am buying are ALREADY in the reusable bag, they still try to transport them into plastic bags.

I don't know if you have ever been to a beach that isn't maintained like the ones around here are but it is plastic bag / bottle central. The area with the fancy-shmancy hotels halfway between here and Hoi An is a great example: Since there are no guests no one is maintaining it and it is just a plastic nightmare.

The tongue sticking out as part of a "haka", kind of like a display to intimidate your opponents in more traditional Maori cultures of New Zealand. this is a good little read about it here : https://www.quora.com/What-does-sticking-out-the-tongue-mean-in-Maori-culture?share=1

Whether or not, the larger population abides by I don't know.. lol

I do agree that waste management here is fairly well and they do a super job in keeping beachfront clean. However I think that when all these hotels become full once again, and when the streets are inundated with tourists, the issues with waste management will become more apparent. I remember reading a few articles about issues in Hoi An that they were having with the dumps becoming overfull.

I also agree with you about plastic bag use. I try to bring my reusable bag and remind him to not put it in the plastic bag. lol.

I have been reading some articles and watching videos on plastic recycling and I think we will have a global solution to this in the next five years. But that's just me being an optimist. lol

Dropping you some hot !PIZZA and !LUV on this post! 👍😎

I sent my kiwi friend a message about this tongue thing and all he said was "fake news"... but he is a tiny guy so maybe he just learned from a very young age to never do it

Hrmmmm... Perhaps it is fake news.. I guess, there's only one way to try it out right? Let's say we had to New Zealand for the weekend and stick our tongues out at some people see what happens? 🤔🤔 😱😅

Love the first image in particular! Probably for the same clothing combo reasons that we were discussing yesterday. Hope you stay dry out there!

The challenge of shooting every day is difficult but I feel it's pressing me to explore and develop more. How often do you go shooting? ❤️
