Finding beauty in the charcoal and embers of a grill. [EN] // Encontrando la belleza en el carbón y las brasas de una parrillera. [ES]
This weekend we celebrated Labor Day, and although we do not work in a company, it does not mean that we do not do it and that we were not going to celebrate, so to not let the date pass without shame or glory, we decided to light the coals and make a barbecue, but this time I will not share with you a recipe or food photography, I will share with you some pictures I wanted to take of the coals and the embers that helped me to prepare that delicious barbecue, because I will tell you, it was really delicious.
I have always been struck by the colors that we can see in the embers and even in the live fire of a lit grill, it is those embers and those flames that truly make the magic and are unnoticed protagonists of each of these barbecues that we enjoy. One of the things I have been learning about photography, is to take advantage of the lighting, as you can see in this picture below, natural light without using a flash can often give better quality to a photograph, or at least that is my perception.
This photograph I show you below is taken from the same position as the previous one and as you can see, the use of the flash makes us lose some details, mostly those at the back of the photograph, and I particularly wanted to see even those details of the smoke at the back of the grill. Even the red tones of the embers starting to burn are dulled by the use of the flash.
Taking this result into account, I decided to take advantage of the natural light and continue photographing as long as the day allowed and once the charcoal was almost completely consumed and there was only less than half of it left the results were as follows. Although the heat was almost burning my fingers, I took the photographs from the same place, barely moving the cell phone to obtain minimal differences in the scene.
The truth is that I loved these pictures, it brings back good memories of my childhood, I remember my beginnings in meditation, and above all I know that those embers resulted in a delicious meal to share with my family. I hope you like this result as much as I do.

Este fin de semana celebramos el día del trabajador, y aunque no trabajamos en una empresa, no quiere decir que no lo hagamos y que no íbamos a celebrar, así que para no dejar pasar la fecha sin pena ni gloria, decidimos prender los carbones y hacer una parrillada, pero en esta oportunidad no les compartiré una receta o fotografía de alimentos, les comparto unas fotografías que quise hacerle a los carbones y las brasas que me ayudaron a preparar esa deliciosa parrillada, porque eso si les diré, estaba realmente deliciosa.
Siempre me ha llamado la atención los colores que podemos observar en las brasas e incluso en el fuego vivo de una parrillera encendida, son esas brasas y esas llamas las que verdaderamente hacen la magia y son protagonistas desapercibidas de cada una de estas parrilladas que disfrutamos. Una de las cosas que he ido aprendiendo con respecto a la fotografía, es aprovechar la iluminación, pues como podrán ver en esta fotografía que les muestro aquí abajo la luz natural sin necesidad de utilizar un flash muchas veces puede darle mejor calidad a una fotografía, o por lo menos es mi percepción.
Esta fotografía que les muestro a continuación está hecha desde la misma posición de la anterior y como podrán ver, el uso del flash nos hace perder de algunos detalles, en su mayoría los que se encuentran en la parte de atrás de la fotografía, y particularmente yo quería que se vieran incluso esos detalles del humo en la parte posterior de la parrillera. Incluso los tonos rojos de las brasas comenzando a arder se ven opacados por el uso del flash.
Tomando en cuenta este resultado, decidí aprovechar la luz natural y continuar fotografiando mientras que el día lo permitiera y una vez que el carbón se consumió casi en su totalidad y ya solo quedaba menos de la mitad del mismo los resultados fueron los siguientes. Aunque el calor ya casi quemaba mis dedos, hice las fotografías desde el mismo lugar, moviendo apenas el móvil para obtener mínimas diferencias de la escena.
La verdad es que me encantaron estas fotografías, me trae buenos recuerdos de mi infancia, recuerdo mis inicios en la meditación, y sobre todo sé que de esas brasas resulto una deliciosa comida para compartir con mi familia. Espero les guste tanto como a mi este resultado.
