Heron Nest Building

Good morning from the Far East. Another pre-work post to get the day started after some brisk walking and push ups. In my mind, content creation is like a muscle that needs to be flexed in order to grow.

I have been watching these Herons for a few days in a tree near my workplace. I took these shots from the second floor of my work building. It’s actually the first time I’ve seen the nest of a heron. They built it way a top of a Matsushima pine tree. You can tell these birds stay as far away from humans as possible.

Their nearby feeding ground is a lake filled with many species of fish, so they don’t have to go far to the super market and their offspring will be well fed.

It was hard to get good shots as they built the nest to be hidden and for structural balance. Nonetheless it is interesting to see these birds building a home at the beginning of spring. The only reason I knew they were there, was the loud squawking sound they made. Their sound, is not as pleasant as their looks.
