Piano Progress: Week 7 (or week 10)

Okay, actually it is not really week 7 on the piano, because I seem to post these kinds of posts like every 10 days. So maybe I should better call it piano progress week 10, with skipping some stuff in there.

I continued on my lessons which again included this week extending the hand to more positions. So instead of playing with the right hand only notes C to G and extending to A with the pinky, and crossing over the thumb to reach the B, I started with broadening the hand.

This means that the thumb would play C and the index finger would skip D and go directly to E, extending the reach. Sounds more difficult than in sounds but actually this feels quite natural. It just needs some practise in getting the hand back into starting position.

Reading the sheet music is getting easier I find with using it from more perspectives. The brain is starting to make the connections it seems ;)

More pop chord variations!

Already the 'Simply Piano' app had given me more variations, but now I am back in learning some more, and I must say it makes the music come alive a lot more.

These variations are stuff mre with the right hand chords, and the next lessons will be using more lead music with the left hand, which I am really looking forward to.

In general songs tend to be bass lined with the left hand playing, and the melody with the right hand playing. I started with this recently, and found it more difficult than I had expected due to the left hand absolutely lagging in fine skills. It will surely be good to get back training on this.

This is actually exactly the practise of the index finger shifting one position higher, and I was happy eventually it sounded like it sort of used to.

More progress is on the way, winter is still long!
