Music Sunday | Taking it easy

While the last couple of days I have been listening more to podcasts while being on the bike, I am noticing that is is eating away the time of listening to music then instead (which is ofcourse more than logical). You just simply can't listen to everything at the same time, and have to make choices on where you want to spend your time.

These podcasts have been again once more on music history and people talkign about it, but also from a Dutch comedian who is interviewing others about their lives and how their success came. Not in a comedian kind of way, but more to take a look about who is behind the stories.

But Sundays call for music and especially grey Sundays call for a bit more tranquil music. It is time to play some piano after this to actually get the brain to also do something again. But first...chillmode!

Rival Consoles- Monster

I am the biggest fan of Rival Consoles as you might have noticed from other previous posts. So when the recent new album 'Overflow' came out, I was more than eager to get it into the system. I truly believe that when you listen to something new you always have to give it at least three shots of listening before you can really have a good opinion about it.

And I have to say....the album 'Overflow' is not really doing it for me. This song 'Monster' is still one of the most flowing songs, but the majority of the album is a lot of synth experimenting which doesn't make it feel like a whole and there is not really a nice flow in there. Rival Consoles has this very typical overlayerd sound in his synths which also comes back in this song, but the rest of the album....I don't know if I am willing to give it 10 more shots to get more used to it. Hmmmmm

Cercle in SXM

If you don't know the concept of Cercle you should give it a try. These are always electronic shows in an interesting or beautiful environment which totally make it worth streaming them on your big screen.

This edition was taken at 'Rainforest Adventures' which is on one of the mountain tops on my favorite island Sint Martin where the zipline begins. Taken at sunset and people dancing away to the chillest vibes around, damn I would love to have been there. Also it is cool to see some familiar faces in the video from people who I haven't seen in a while but got their hands on getting up there.

If you even need some chill background music with cool shots, just put on a Cercle edition and you are always good to go.

Nirvana - The man who sold the world

Whoever says the unplugged show of Nirvana on MTV wasn't legendary should really take a good listen at it again. For me this song is all about the details which come forward to vividly in the song. An extra breath here and there. The bassline coming forward a bit too much in certain pieces. A screatching string sound which shouldn't be there. The string instrument gives the extra warmth which a synth could normally do. All things that make this version a fantastic listen and really show how legendary this show actually was.

Back to some hibernation, I don't think there will be any issues with this today when the music keeps flowing like this. What are you listening to today?

What about Podcast with music in the background? ...true true, the podcast takes away the attention to the music, hence its kinda lost time listening music :)

Rival Consoles: You say, not your thing, too much experimenting... That one statement caused me to listen to the whole track {LOL} I usually like experimental stuff. Must say, this track is indeed more soundscaping than a 'flowing' track.

Cercle: Wait....What? You recognise peeps in the vids? Must say I never really watch this series, though I agree with you, they always use some FANTASTIC setting and once so often even invite a great artist. Not that I'll try and add myself to the audience of one of the future editions, but any idea how to get an 'entrance'?

Well this sint Martin edition recognition was because I lived there for a while, so then the chance of knowing some people gets a lot bigger :)

I guess because they are all involved in doing community stuff that probably because they set something up in hosting this event that they got a spot up there. The rest looks more like incrowd entourage indeed. I guess also some people came with the dj madame . But how to get tickets to this externally? Poooooh, I wouldnt know?? But it is always good background stuff to put on on a rainy day!

If it ever comes here, we should go dude!
