El impacto del Internet en nuestra sociedad actual es un tema que desemboca en diferentes opiniones, algunos piensan que la masificación del Internet sin duda hace mucho mal a una generación joven sin ningún tipo de supervisión, por otro lado, algunos consideran como un gran logro que la mayor parte del mundo tenga acceso al Internet, aproximándose cada vez más a una sociedad mundial libre de analfabetismos y con un intercambio cultural que favorece a todos.

The impact of the Internet in our current society is a subject that leads to different opinions, some think that the massification of the Internet undoubtedly does much harm to a young generation without any supervision, on the other hand, some consider it a great achievement that most of the world has access to the Internet, getting closer and closer to a global society free of illiteracy and with a cultural exchange that favors everyone.

El día de hoy me gustaría conversar un poco sobre un género musical que sin duda está en el centro de atención actualmente, hablamos del famoso K-pop, el vivo ejemplo de como el Internet ha contribuido en el intercambio cultural. A pesar de que este género se creó en los años 90 en Corea del Sur fue hace algunos años atrás que se popularizo en el mundo entero, llegando en la actualidad a su máximo apogeo.

Today I would like to talk a little about a musical genre that is undoubtedly in the spotlight today, we are talking about the famous K-pop, the living example of how the Internet has contributed to cultural exchange. Although this genre was created in the 90s in South Korea, it was a few years ago that it became popular around the world, reaching its peak today.

Corea del sur paso de ser un país con una economía estable y conocido por sus grandes marcas de como Samsung, LG, Hyundai, entre otros, a convertirse en una de las principales industrias del entretenimiento, exportando su contenido a tierras muy lejanas, este negocio se ha convertido en uno de los más rentables dentro del pequeño país asiático, siendo la música K-Pop y los denominados “idols” su atractivo principal.

La locura por el K-Pop se viene desarrollando desde hace un buen tiempo, cada vez más personas son fans de estos grupos juveniles de música pop, y la verdad el Internet y las redes sociales han sido parte fundamental de la viralización de estos grupos. En mi experiencia personal los conoció por redes sociales y al principio no los veía como algo muy interesante, pero debo admitir que todo el concepto que forma el K-Pop, incluyendo su música y estilo, son muy agradables y puede cautivar hasta al más apático.

The K-Pop craze has been developing for quite some time now, more and more people are fans of these youth pop music groups, and the truth is that the Internet and social networks have been a fundamental part of the viralization of these groups. In my personal experience I met them through social networks and at first I did not see them as something very interesting, but I must admit that the whole concept that forms the K-Pop, including their music and style, are very nice and can captivate even the most apathetic.

Este tema me parece muy interesante, por el gran impacto que está teniendo en la juventud actual, todos quieren aprender coreano, ir a corea del sur, conocer su historia, cultura, aprender coreografías de vídeos musicales e incluso seguir algunos estándares de belleza ridículos que siguen los idols coreanos. En mi caso personal este estilo de música forma parte de mi música del día a día, y sigo algunas bandas como BTS y Blackpink (las más famosas actualmente) no podría denominarme una fan, realmente sería una falacia para los verdaderos fans del K-Pop, que ciertamente saben mucho del tema, pero no puedo negar que disfruto mucho las canciones, aunque no sepa pronunciar los nombres de los intérpretes. Teniendo claro que estas súper bandas generan furor en todo el mundo, los fans exigen mayor reconocimiento para sus artistas, esto desemboco en un pequeño escándalo en los Gramys de este año, cuando BTS no gano ningún premio, a los que los fans utilizaron la bandera del racismo como motivo por el cual no salieron victoriosos.

I find this topic very interesting, because of the great impact it is having on today's youth, everyone wants to learn Korean, go to South Korea, know their history, culture, learn choreographies from music videos and even follow some ridiculous beauty standards that Koreans follow. In my personal case this style of music is part of my day to day music, and I follow some bands like BTS and Blackpink (the most famous at the moment) I could not call myself a fan, it would really be a fallacy for true K-Pop fans, who certainly know a lot about it, but I cannot deny that I really enjoy the songs, even if I don't know how to pronounce the names of the performers. Clearly, as these super bands generate worldwide furor, fans demand more recognition for their artists, which led to a small scandal at this year's Grammy Awards, when BTS did not win any awards, and fans used the flag of racism as a reason why they did not win.

Algunas personas no saben por qué tanto emoción por estas bandas, he incluso están un poco cansado de sus hijos, sobrinos y personas jóvenes cercanas que son fans del K-Pop, algunos como todo joven rayan un poco en la obsesión, pero deben entender y aceptar que esta es la música de la nueva generación, un entretenimiento que realmente no solo le ha dado cosas buenas a su país, sino que sigue obteniendo reconocimiento en el mundo.

Some people do not know why so much excitement for these bands, and even they are a little tired of their children, nieces, nephews and close young people who are fans of K-Pop, some like all young people border a little on obsession, but they must understand and accept that this is the music of the new generation, an entertainment that has really only given good things to their country and continues to be recognized in the world.
